So I found an article today about Short's Brewing releasing a 6-pack called their Psychedelic Cat Grass, a triple dry-hopped IPA. Enclosed in each six-pack will be a pair of 3-D glasses that one can only assume will be used for the label.

    http://beerstreetjournal.com/shorts-psychedelic-cat-grass/

So this has me wondering...has anyone else seen any 3-D beer labels before? I'm pretty sure I've seen ONE but for the life of me can't remember the name or the brewery...so....help? :grinning:

Not too fan of these gimmicks, personally.

Stillwater did something similar with Why Can't I B U... didn't require glasses or anything, but trippy artwork nonetheless.

I've never heard of a 3D beer logo.. but if the beer is good, and the price wasn't jacked up to offset the costs...I'd buy. I do save quality beer cans/bottles, as a testament to my beer loving taste buds.

It wouldn't be my 1st 3D gimmick purchase, however. As a fan of Grand Funk from the get-go (my first big hall concert was GFRR in 1970-71 at the Baltimore Civic Center.. and yes, Freddie King opened for them).

The veil had some 3d text on their Master Master Shredder Shredder, they even handed out a pair of 3d glasses with the cans.
I think it was the same for DDHCT also, but not certain.

Bridgeport came out with Raven Mad back in 2008, and included a pair of 3D glasses with every bottle.

I would prefer a hologram to beam from the bottle of a sexy women ha ha. The 3d thing is sort of old hat, we are beyond this and should focus on the product not so much the item that lands in a garbage dump.

I'm gonna have to come back here with my Short's glasses later and re-examine these label pics that were posted. :astonished:

It was excellent marketing and a funky label to go with what turned out to be an excellent beer....

The only issue that could have been is if the beer wasn't worth the marketing and the hype.... Which I think at times brewers do hype less then hypable (is that a word?..lol) beer....
As it turns out both were worth it....
And it was a delicious beer.... In this case I was extremely happy I got some and the label is pretty cool...

So how many of these brews do you have to drink before you don't need the glasses to see the label clearly? This is going to play havoc with my bifocals.

Me too. I hope the glasses do more for these labels than what they did for the Short's label. They did nothing for me! Nada! Zip! Faulty glasses or label?

It took me a sec of looking at it with the glasses both on and off. You'll notice only the blades of grass are printed in the blue and red. So the grass has a UV 'blacklighty' hologram kind of look and the cats don't do anything. Only the grass is psychedelic...

That's a good one with the old Short's glasses on.

What about Blue Point's Hoptical Illusion? Sort of 3D-esque, no glasses required!

At my age all the labels are a bit fuzzy.

Lukcy Basardt took as much effort as I ever want to put into reading a beer label - until someone comes out with a Magic Eye label, anyway.
