My wife and I are making a last minute trip to Raleigh (from Charlotte) today and will probably only have enough time to visit one or two breweries / bars tonight. Any suggestions on must visit places in the Raleigh area (I'm not familiar at all with the Triangle area beer scene outside of what makes distro to Charlotte)? Apologies if this has been covered, I couldn't find anything on Raleigh specifically that wasn't drastically outdated (2013) from a brief forum search. Thanks for the help!
Tasty Beverage has some special taps today. Trophy Brewing(maywood location) would be a good spot to hit as well. Bond Brothers is doing some great stuff right now, but they're over in Cary.
Agree with all that and will also add that Lynnwood has Hubris back on now as well. Also, either Trophy location would be a good place to hit - if you want cans go to Maywood and if you want pizza go to Morgan St (or go to both).
What these guys said. If you like stouts go to Bond Brothers for thier Ginger Reaper Variant. If you like IPAs go to Lynnwood Brewing taproom for Hubris. If you like a variety and all solid, hit up Trophy on Maywood.
Awesome, thanks all for the suggestions! I'll post what I end up hitting; going to try to squeeze in as much as possible!
Managed to make three stops Saturday Started at Trophy (Maywood) and did the sample flight. Everything was really solid and well done. Great atmosphere and the guys behind the bar were great. Got a pint of Moteuka DAVE and a 4 pack of Cloud Surfer to go. Drinking the Cloud surfer right now and it's fantastic. Second stop was Bond Brothers. The ginger reaper variant was excellent. Their beer was definitely on point, but the service was a bit lacking. Third was Lynnwood. We almost didn't go here because a guy at the bar at Bond Bros told us it was horrible and my wife almost listened to him. Luckily I was able to pursuance her that the learned savants on BA probably know more than that guy and I'm glad I did. Hubris was great, got a couple of bottles to go (one of which is going across country as an extra). This was probably my favorite place; the bartenders were outstanding and there wasn't a disappointing beer I tried. All around great suggestions guys, I was really impressed by the consistency down the line, every beer was really solid and there were some really good standouts. Thanks again for the suggestions and I'll definitely have to start planning more beer trips to the Triangle!
The guy at Bond Bros might have thought you were thinking about Lynnwood Grill (original location and a bit of a sports bar)? I am guessing you went to the new location (Lynnwood Brewing Concern). Glad you enjoyed your visit and, as expected, the Raleigh proper guys on this thread had you pointed in the right direction.
