Jester King - 2016 Fen Tao

    Low bottle count on this one. I'll be passing on this release to go to the American Solera opening on Saturday.

    When our tasting room opens at 4pm on Friday, August 26th, we’ll be releasing 2016 Jester King 分 桃 (Fēn Táo). 分 桃 is our barrel aged sour beer fermented with our mixed culture of brewers yeast, native yeast, and native bacteria, then refermented with fresh, Texas Hill Country peaches.


    Our 2016 blend, like all our previous vintages, was refermented with peaches from Fredericksburg, Texas, located about 60 miles to the west of Jester King. It was brewed with raw, unfiltered well water, malted barley, wheat, oats, and hops, and then slowly matured in neutral oak barrels for about a year. After refermentation with fresh, Texas peaches, it was 100% naturally conditioned in bottles and kegs. At the time of packaging, 2016 分 桃 was 5.95% alcohol by volume, 14 IBU, 3.3 pH, and had a specific gravity of 1.002 (0.5 degrees Plato).


    2016 分 桃 will be available at our tasting room by the glass and in bottles to go. We have about 1,600 bottles available (500ml/$20). The bottle limit is two (2) per customer per day. Aside from special events, 分 桃 will only be available at our tasting room.

    Oh wow, yeah bottle count is really low. 5000 last year if I remember correctly?

    I think last year it lasted two full weekends. May only last Friday night this year.

    Could be related to fruit etc., but increased production of MvB and Atrial had to mean reductions elsewhere.

    Is there any chance this lasts (Just for onsite) into labor day weekend? Sorry for my ignorance on onsite process, I've only seen to go bottle type threads, thanks!

    EDIT: I know no one knows the future, just curious if there was any insight based on past releases of this magnitude / quality. thanks!

    ^ No. It will be gone, but there will probably be something great released that weekend as well, so no worries.

    Aurelian, Nocturn, and La Vie should be out soonish. So maybe one or the other will be out by then. Just speculating.

    This is more or less correct. We devoted more of our mature barrel aged beer this year to Atrial Rubicite and Montmorency vs. Balaton.

    Sorry, I guess my question wasn't super clear, will they most likely be out of glasses of fen tao (for onsite consumption) by the next week (Labor Day Weekend) too? Don't necessarily need a bottle to take home, just hoping to get a pour to try it.

    Generally it lasts on tap only as long as the bottles do, so it's unlikely any makes it past this weekend. Plenty of good releases on the horizon though, so you never know what might pop up Labor Day weekend. Could be another release with it being a holiday weekend. They'll want to attract people out there I'd imagine.
