I put more than 5 too, The last two are the two I go to most often due to obvious reasons.

To put it into perspective, the grocery store is 21.8 miles. It has a 3.81 BA place rating.

 

If you don't mind, I'll approach this a bit differently, dispensing with the numbers and specifics.

Ignoring brewpubs, there are about 5 breweries within a half hour drive from me. I consider 1 of those to be really good in my eyes. The other 4 don't offer me anything I'm really interested in for various reasons.

Cool thread, but to me, the most important brewery is just 10 seconds away....in my garage.

 

Jester King is a little over an hour away. Real Ale about 45 minutes. Freetail and Ranger Creek about 15 to 20 minutes.

 

Brew Gentleman (4.2) and Roundabout (3.8) are about 20 minutes away from me. Penn Brewery (3.6) and Church Brew Works (3.6) are about 15 minutes. Hitchhiker (3.7) is about 10ish. Without googlemappin' i think those are the closest.

 

If you stand at one of the main intersections in Bellingham, Railroad Ave & Holly St, there are 6 breweries (Boundary Bay, Gruff, Structures, Aslan, Chuckanut, and Wander) within a 10 minute walk. Those are all less than a mile from that corner. Another brewery (Kulshan) has 2 locations, each about a 20-25 minute walk. Another brewery (Stones Throw) is a 5-7 minute bus ride (about 2.5-3 miles). And a 5 minute bus ride in a different direction will soon take me to two more, Menace and Melvin.

 

OEC's brewery is gorgeous. The beer is great as well. I spend about $500 everytime I go there lol

Hilarious. I did the Googles thing and found a brewery right near me (relatively) that I previously knew nothing about - Steam Bell Brewing. Guess I've gotta check those folks out pretty soon.

As for the results, I have

Steam Bell - 14 miles (no BA average but average rating for all beers rated is 3.77....ya, did the math)

Extra Billy's - 16 miles (3.94 BA average) This place became far better rated after Brandon Toler arrived to brew, but he has since went to The Answer.

Midnight Brewery - 27 miles (3.62 BA average)

The Veil - 27 miles (4.17 BA average)*******

Lickinghole Creek - 28 miles (3.95 BA average)

Actually, there are about 6 breweries within this distance from me (The Answer, Strangeways, Triple Crossing, Ardent, Isley and Hardywood) but the assignment asked for 5 and The Veil edges out The Answer (barely) for most compelling.

As you can see from this list (throw in the Stone and Center of the Universe breweries just about 30 miles away and our otherwise great distro) I do not bitch much about good, fresh beer availability.
