Future trends point to a gose craze on the horizon. Gose and sours are the new coolest thing. I'll get sick of IPAs when people stop making ones that are delicious.

Never. The craft beer revolution continuously reinvents itself.

I absolutely love IPAs but just sticking with one style of beer seems like a crime to me when there is so much to experience out there! I tend to shift my tastes according to the seasons. Heavy, dark beers in the fall / winter switching to light and crisp ones when spring / summer comes around. But I will drink IPAs all year round

I have heard Sierra Nevada uses some fresh hops in their beer, but this is ridiculous...

I don't care for IPAs, but I love the word cornucopia.

Actually, the IPA craze ended yesterday. Didn't you get the memo?

Given that the IPA style has been around for a couple of centuries, I don't think it's going away any time soon. Personally, I love a well-crafted and balanced IPA. It's a delicious style of brew. What I can't stomach, though, are all the "how many truckloads of hops can we stuff in a bottle?" style of IPAs that brewers keep making. I find them mostly undrinkable.

Can't read 8 full pages of responses, sorry if I repeat :slight_frown:.

I think a brewer at this point has to have an IPA representation. It's the craft beer standard. However, I agree and I would like to see a focus on some other styles.

Recently started homebrewing and half my batches have been IPAs (or effectively APAs) of some sort. I can't match what's out there in that category, even with my best efforts do far, but I've done a few other styles that I think are (or could be) better than what I can find in other styles (recently: a brown ale). If I can do it on a few tries, I am sure professional brewers can, to a greater degree. Unfortunately, there's probably no profit in it.

Fair question. I don't think it's a craze. It's just a style of beer that has been improved upon and has a huge fan base. I'm a big fan of IPA and Double IPA but I'm really enjoying the new IPL's out there. You still get that good hop flavor but with a nice, refreshing finish. Those are on beer lists far less than any pilsner or stout at this point.

IPA' wont go away, and I don't want them too..but it has been tiresome to have a half of every breweries selection be 70+ IBU's etc. A buddy and I talked about this a couple years ago and we both agreed that sours were going to be the next "it" style, and it seems to be coming to fruition..sours are tasty, can have the high ABV for those who use that as their main characteristic of picking up or liking a beer, and they're accessible to the non craft beer drinking crowd, so maybe they'll be some new converts.

I absolutely agree! When I walk into a local brewer that has 17 beers on tap and at least 13 of them have some form of bitter, sour, or hop to them, that is a problem. Since when do we need a Red IPA, or a Porter IPA, or a "Hopped Up" Marzen. Some things should be left alone. I know this will get pounded, but those of you who LOVE IPAs must realize that some of us don't like it: Just like Dub-step!!

No one wants it to end because a lot of people love IPA beers. It is like asking for an end to cheap gas, why or why would we want that?
I can understand if your not a fan but with all the styles of beer I cannot imagine you don't have a ton to select from and drink. Just don't partake of the IPA and we will drink them for you.
    Cheers

You don't have to drink locally brewed beer if it doesn't suit your needs, ya know .
