My wife hates beer, HATES it. She has mostly tried Ales (she likes redds) because that's what I enjoy but I think she would really enjoy a beer that didn't have an overwhelming bread-like taste. maybe a dark lager or a Belgium beer? What do you all think?

Is your goal to get her to like beer or just find something she does like?

Do you know if she likes fruitiness? I see that she likes Redds (I'm assuming you mean the apple ale) so I would start off with a very fruity ale, like the Hell or High Watermelon from 21st Amendment, or maybe the Mango Even Keel from Ballast Point. But if she turns down EVERYTHING you give her, I say just let her stick to what she loves already! Like You!

I think you should accept that your wife doesn't enjoy beer and move on.

Just keep giving her some of every beer you open. At some point she might like one. If not....oh well......

    Enjoy

I agree above that if she doesn't like beer, then she doesn't like beer. No reason to force it.

With that said, if she likes Redd's, then there is your answer. Go as fruity as you can and you will probably find something she likes. I am guessing very little to no hop presence may help her enjoy it more as well. Or you could always look to Shandy's and Radlers too. Those are usually a sure bet, as they sometimes contain more juice than beer even.

    Gose?
    Berliner Weisse?
As @Squire123 mentioned, ciders, esp. hopped ciders. I've had the ones from Cider Works (Canisteo,NY), done with Brettanomyces. Very good. Stowe Cider (Stowe,VT) does some also. (So I hear - friends of a co-worker - haven't tried 'em myself.)
Fruit sours, such as from Grimm, Omnipollo, & Almanac?
    Fruit stouts?
Various ones with Lactobacillus, such as Sloop - Confliction, & Off Color - Apex Predator ?

I was also going to suggest the Lindemans Framboise...I know someone who professed to hate beer, but is totally in love with the Framboise. I have to admit...I like it , too and I have never really ever been very enamored of Belgian beer at all (though I have come to appreciate them more in recent years).

She claims to want to, but then counters that with she hates it. This sounds like a job for marijuana actually.

Some fall for a fruited Belgians, some for luscious chocolaty stouts, others need acupuncture and hypnosis. My wife loves big RIS's and Hoppy belgians, occasionally an IPA but she gets hop burn out.

Any of Southern Tier's sweeter "dessert-type" beers might be something to consider (Choklat, Mokah, Crème Brûlée)--they don't taste very much like beer to me, anyway...

Try giving her a lambic. My brother in law doesn't drink but we got him to drink lambics.

Lindemann Lambics might be an expensive example for her to try. (OP) Better get that corkscrew ready though.

There are other fruit beers too that you can try that aren't lambics.
