This Friday (9/2) at 4pm, we'll be releasing 2016 Nocturn Chrysalis -- barrel aged sour beer refermented with blackberries -- at our tasting room.

Nocturn Chrysalis will be available by the glass and in bottles to go (500ml/$20). About 3,500 bottles are available with a bottle limit of two per customer per day. Aside from special events, Nocturn Chrysalis will only be available at our tasting room.

Love this beer so much. Solid bottle count -- time to give my wife the plans for the weekend.

@jesterkingbeer will this be a staggered release with the higher bottle count?

No, I decided not to go with the staggered release this time around. I'd say the feedback on staggered releases has been mixed.

Is it a safe bet that bottles will still be available if I can't make it to Jester King til about 7pm Friday?

I'm usually not good at this game, but yes. I would guess you'd still be good until at least mid day to late Saturday.

Fen Tao just barely sold out on Friday, and it was 1600 bottles. Nocturn is more than twice that, and for some reason, not very hyped for a JK fruited sour.

Glad to see the staggered releases have been ditched, those kind of made it harder for locals. The original way fits in more with the brewery's sense of place theme too. Looking forward to this years Nocturn!

How was it harder for locals compared to everyone else? If anything, the staggered releases benefited locals because they could more easily make it to the brewery all three days and end up with triple the limit.

I think he meant the normal locals who just show up to drink beer... Not the basket cases that hang out here :sunglasses:

Glad you were able to come out on such a special weekend- not only is there a primo release, but it's one you can easily get, hopefully you'll be able to enjoy several on draft too... take in the country, it's a beautiful part of texas!

I know, no way to know for sure, but based on people's experience with JK releases, if I'm there around 1 pm on Sunday, do I stand any chance? Don't want to unrealistically get my hopes up!

Really tough to say. I would normally say yes, but long weekend could bring out more crowds. Also, weather can be a factor, so the worse it is, the better your chances.

I wouldn't get your hopes up and just plan for a good time regardless. You should most definitely get some on draft and if bottles are still going, that is even better!

I would try to get there right before open on Sunday to be safe, but worst case I would bet that it will at least still be on tap. I think there's a good chance there will still at least be a few hundred bottles available at open on Sunday though.

Got there about 3:40 and only had to wait 5-10 minutes in line once 4 rolled around. Lovely weather, for sure.
