You really need to try Double Citra, I think that might be the best one they make with Double Galaxy and S&S4. I will have to track down or post a trade for a can of ACE to try it again bc I had it on tap and it was barely drinkable.

Hot damn, they updated Beermenus and those growler prices are awesome. 16 for 64 oz of All Citra, mylar bags, or space diamonds!?!?

Mylar bags is overrated it's a poor mans NE style IPA for people who don't know any better

This guy's on dope ^ (the bad kind)
Mylar Bags is stellar. I've had over 50 Other Half beers and it's one of my favorites.

Picked up a growler of Mylar Bags tonight, I'm excited to try it given all the praise and description. Hopefully I like it, otherwise I'll be a dope too.

Tried Daddy's Home while waiting for the fill - I was surprised it was still on - and did not really care for it. Booze was much more present than recent batches of AGE I've had and pretty much overwhelmed all the other flavors.

Haven't had the chance to try Daddy's Home but I've definitely had batches of AGE which were a hair too boozy for my preference.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but if you think Mylar Bags is nothing but a "poor man's NE style ipa" then I would (regrettably) have to conclude that you are on dope as well :grinning:

Grabbbed some more cans of Simcoe/Boogie and had a glass of Mylar Bags. Curious to know what the hop bill is since it wasn't listed on the board like they usually are. It was a really good DIPA, but I think they've put out a few others recently that are slightly better IMO (Space Diamonds and ! most recently). That said, if it does get canned I would definitely pick some up.

@JoshVelez complaining about OH is just business as usual :stuck_out_tongue:

A friend sent me a pic of the board last week when it was up the first time. Just checked it:

Amarillo, Citra, El Dorado, Galaxy, Mosaic, Oats and Wheat.[/QUOTE]

A second pubkeg of it that was saved for an event was tapped, which shouldn't have been. Oh well!

But yeah - I didn't like the draft version that much, but the canned version tastes like liquid cantaloupe with no booziness.

Can I have the contact for your drug dealer? Unless this batch of ACE tastes light years away from the last several batches, this is Butterbean fighting Tyson in his prime. Don't take this the wrong way, I love OH beers, but I just don't see this being close. ACE is pretty good, but not one of OH's better beers, the single OH Citra is better IMO. To each their own though, thats why we comment and have preferences. HF Double Citra is just lovely, but I will agree Double Galaxy is king of the mountain.

On another note, drinking a Space Diamonds now and really enjoy it. It's bitter yes, and it should be. It's an IPA and one component is bitterness. Too many 'fluffy' IPAs recently, bitterness makes for a well rounded beer in this category. One of the more well rounded IPAs I've had from OH in a while, digging it.

dunno just spent some time in Vermont and although the consistency for every brewery is on another level I would put the can of Space Diamonds I had up there with any NE DIPA. I had about 16 focal bangers over the past month, amazing beer, but when OH hits a homerun it's of its caliber. Their beers have their own bite and flavor distinction which I prefer sometimes to the super hazy, super cloudy, double dry hopped Trill beers.

I think a lot of the appeal is traveling through the countryside into beer mecca and coming home with goodies. Grimm, OH, Singlecut, LIC Beer project, Threes, even Greenpoint beers are all getting better every month and the quality/consistency gap is closing. I'm not even mentioning the Hudson/Jersey breweries who are doing serious things as well.

I was also down in Florida this past weekend and you can definitely see this clear gap in quality. Civil Society is producing NE style IPA's but they have quality issues. 80% of the cans I've had from them have had diacetyl flavor and no one seems to notice until its pointed out. I also picked up some canned IPA's from J. Wakefield and they are falling off after a week. We really are spoiled right now.

and yes this batch of ACE is much much much better than previous. No sediment, great mouthfeel, super explosive citra flavor. just outstanding.

I'm glad I saw this post. I presume you're referencing Blanc de Blancs? I will be there this weekend and planned to grabbed a few 4-packs, but it sounds like I should just stick with picking up Cafe?

yeah I am referencing Blanc de Blancs, I would recc buying a 4 pack for down there because it's still a quality beer and it's hard to find a better one down in FLA. It has a nice grape flavor to it.I just wouldn't bring more than a couple cans back up north.

Ha! Ok..I realize "blow away" is a bit of quickly typed hyperbole. And like I said, i possibly tasted a double citra that wasn't at it's freshest considering how people rave about it. But this batch of ACE is different than the prior ones, and comparing this can to that draught, I think it was much more enjoyable. Having said that, I need to find double citra again.
