Cheers! We will have to give that a try again then. The last time we were in Bend we tried to go but it fell through.

Anyone able to recommend things to do in between breweries in Bend? I will be down there this weekend. Gonna go to Deschutes and Crux for sure after that its a toss up

Float the river. Watch the surfers at the whitewater park. Explore the miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails in town. Learn about the area's history at the Des Chutes Historical Museum or High Desert Museum. Check out the touristy shops downtown. Take a self-guided tour of the roundabout art. Live music (often free) is abundant during the summer, find a show. Take the kids (if you have them) to the Juniper Pool or the rock-climbing at the Pavilion.

    Any place close Sunday?
I will be staying in a cheap hotel just east of 97..on Greenwood

You'll miss Little Woody by a day. Platypus seems to get keg remnants after some events, they may have stuff from the fest. It's not an addition to the OP, but a cool spot called Spoken recently opened between Crux and Immersion that showcases rebuilt motorcycles and gear to go with the beer.

We'll be in Sun River in a couple weeks, this is great, thank you! It looks like Boneyard has a crowler machine? Any sense of how well these travel and whether they'd hold up ok in a suitcase flying back to Boston?

They travel just fine in my experience. Ziploc bags are cheap insurance, but I'd do that with 12oz or 16oz cans too. In addition to Boneyard, crowlers are offered at both Growler Guys locations, Market of Choice, and Deschutes' production brewery tasting room.

Awesome, thank you! Agreed on the ziploc bags. I brought back some cans of Todd the Axeman from a recent trip to Chicago; wrapped them in a plastic bag in my suitcase; when I got home I found that one of the cans had punctured and leaked all but a few ounces. Amazingly, every single drop stayed in the bag, got lucky with that one!

My yoga instructor is heading to Bend tomorrow to go climb Smith Rocks. I told her that a stop at BBC for a glass of Ching is mandatory, anything else right now she should check out? She's not a super nerd like us, just enjoys a nice brew.

Crux. Beautiful view of the mountains and solid beer.

If you're at Crux or otherwise nearby, yes. The space is nice and open, the u-brew kettles are pretty, and Atlas Cider and Brown Owl in the same strip mall have other options if Immersion's offerings don't click with you. Most Belgian styles are toward the bottom of my preferences, and 4 of the 5 beers they had the day I went were in that family, so I struggle to muster a lot of excitement for them. I want to give them another shot before sizing up how they rank among other local breweries for this guide. I didn't have anything with obvious flaws, but neither did their awesomeness transcend my style handicap.

I was looking to walk from my hotel to Crux and according to Google map its only just over a mile..yet the street view is quite confusing..and 4 years out of date.
Back then there is no sidewalk..is that true now?

For the most part, that's still true. I've walked a few blocks' worth to get there when the lot is full, and I've never felt sketched out about the lack of sidewalk. The approach in either direction is wide enough that cars and people have enough room to share.

Hope you came back, I was there from about 5:30 to a little after 7 and it was still well attended but lines were short. Cruxtennial was delicious.

Got a mini growler of Cruxtennial coming back with my parents. Can't wait for MOAR FRESH HOP.
