Specs Houston just tweeted a picture showing $12.69 a 4 pack, cash price.

Damn, would blow my mind if those show up in DFW next week. Rethinking if I want to put an online order in for 750s for pickup.

That is a crazy price. They must have made a KILLING off the 750s.

Big glass is a bit more expensive than smaller options. Not THAT much, but it does account for a portion.

Yeah, now it's only as expensive per oz as Sculpin, lol.

I know you're not surprised. This is BeerBitchAdvocate. Damn YR is in 750's. Why oh why are they not in smaller 4 pk's or 6 pk's? Oh they are, daaaaamn hellz yeah!!!! Oh wait, now it is expensive. This site is always good for some popcorn. More flip flopping than IHOP after church on a Sunday morning.

It's a better price than it was, so I don't know why people gotta get all mad.

One guy made a snarky remark about the price being at sculpin level... I think you guys are imagining rage where there is no rage.

This is a solid price point, I was actually expecting something like $16/4pk

The same people bitching will happily pay $12 for a Growler fill.

You are basically getting 68 oz for $12.99 with the new 4 packs. I think it is a great price considering we were paying $8 for a 750ml. Had they kept the same price point per ounce, we could have expected these to cost $21. Instead, we get a very nice discount.

Regardless of the beer, it is easily the most expensive IPA in Texas. Are people not allowed to call that out or are we just supposed to accept it because it would be bitching if we do?

    Asking for etiquette reasons.

This board is always full of grumps being huge babies. It's nothing new. Beer is serious, people! You can't make jokes about it! Nobody sees any irony in calling this new Sculpin-ish price a "crazy price" (implying it's low) after all the bitching people have done about Ballast Point prices? Of course not.

It seems totally reasonable and at the same time is still one of the most expensive 4/6 packs of a single IPA that you'll find. Can it be both things? I guess not on BA, where bitching about perceived bitching is the most beloved pastime. :slight_frown:

Its $0.02 more per oz than Community Mosaic IPA. Its also arguably the best IPA in the state and arguably one of the best overall beers in the state. It's also a vast improvement in how it was offered previously by LP, both in price, and packaging.

Jester King raised their fruited sours by 15 times that amount per oz and no one complained.

But I guess people too strapped for cash after buying up the likes of Reindeer Tears and Space Waves.....

So, just doing your math since you didn't show where you came up with your numbers.

    12.99/64 = .202/ounce

    .202-.02 = .182/ounce for Mosaic.

    .182*72 = 13.19/6 pack.

I haven't bought Mosaic in some time, but I do not recall it being that expensive.

Considering most 6 packs of local IPA are in the 7.99-9.99 range, I will use that as an example.

To start out with the more expensive side - 9.99

9.99/72 = .138/ounce or .064 less than YR. So YR is 46% more than those IPAs.

7.99/72 = .111/ounce or .091 less than YR. So YR is 82% more than those.IPAs.

So, yeah, there are those numbers. YR is more expensive than any other regularly made Texas IPA. I don;t know why people get upset over people calling them out on that.

And just for comparison reasons, YR would be a 14.50/6 pack if they kept the same price per ounce.

And comparing making an IPA to a JK fruited sours are two completely different things. JK's price range for what they make is right about the same (If not cheaper) than almost every other beer in that same style. Yes, it's more expensive than an IPA for a reason.

First of all, if you want to bring this much math in it, make sure your math is correct. A 4 pack has 67.6 oz. of beer, not 64 oz.

Secondly, the price for PACKAGED Yellow Rose has just dropped in half and you're complaining about how expensive it is? This is the most expensive IPA in Texas? Well, guess what? It's also the best IPA in Texas. Best according to ratings. Best according to supply/demand. You may have an IPA you personally like better, but I can't think of any packaged IPA that can be argued as clearly better from a rating/desirability standpoint.

    750s were roughly $.35 per oz. ($9/25.3oz)
These new 4 packs are $.20 per oz. or less (assuming $14 per pack).

Pliny is sold in single 500mL bottle. This has just made Yellow Rose cheaper than Pliny. This is a huge improvement!

I was going off of 16 oz bottles, so that is my mistake on that.

With that said, where was I complaining? Stating that it is more expensive than any other is not complaining, it is stating facts.

Are we not allowed to question things? Seems to really set some people off on here.

Who fucking cares about any of this. I think it is priced pretty much where it should be. It is about $3 and some change/500ml bottle. So freaking what. Houston people don't drive to JK this weekend and boom, lots of spare change for 4 packs

Got some, and of coarse listening to Miles  It is fantastic by the way. I have not bought YR bottles since it was first release cause no dates, and consistency issues. If it is as good as this going forth, no need to worry.

    And now...Bottled on dates

#1 - Your oz are off on YR

#2 - Your price is off on YR and Community Mosaic

#3 - I used numbers from Specs website for both

#4 - You're right, YR IS more expensive than any other IPA in the state. But to say its over priced, you would have to conclude that its on the same level as Fire Eagle, Fetching Lab IPA, Hopston, DE IPA, High Brass, etc

I am psyched at this price. I wasn't thrilled by the thought of a price near $20, but let's face it, I would have probably paid it.
