Second beer that got me to pay more than I should instead of sitting at home and drinking beer I already bought.

Good evening, all! Since Thursday is the new Friday - for me, at least this week - I'm celebrating with Sofie. I wanted to do something special for Beer No. 500, and this one is certainly worthy of its classically beautiful label. Is it worthy of a thrift-store crystal wine goblet? You be the judge. :stuck_out_tongue:

Got a Berkshire Black IPA tonight... remarkable beer, hopped to the gills yet restrained in both the aroma and the flavor. BIG bitter flash followed by smooth and creamy dark malt, and the bitterness faded quickly on the aftertaste. Would definitely get again.

I prefer these with some age on them, but every year I try a fresh one or two just to make sure.

    Today's lineup :

^ This one was pretty much awful. I don't know if I got an infected bottle or what, but this tasted like crunch berries pissed on by a cat.

^ And into the evening while I'm making asparagus and burgers, this one was quite a bit better, but still not lighting my fuse. Nice figgy notes on the finish, but mostly metallic over here.

^ Grain Belt's Lock & Dam Lager was likewise a disappointment. A bit too bitter for my palate, which is odd considering they've always been in favor of high malting. Not a bad beer, but just not great.

And now finally, one of my favorites.

^ Always welcome here. Nice bready notes, with slight baked qualities. Probably my favorite pilsner ever.

Citra Hero fought a good fight. Three six packs worth. But the new guard has finally moved in.

By far the most time I've spent staging WBAYN pics...and I thoroughly enjoyed it. :grinning:

    Have a great Friday everyone!

This is pretty Good , the whiskey barrel aging is huge on this. When it was colder the vanilla and chocolates , and caramel aspects were upfront in the smell, Now ? as it warms all whiskey , faint smell of lahey, faint vanilla , and roasted malt. The Abv?! Will set your head on fire ! At 26 minutes in this glass I have Half a buzz going. Mouthfeel in their other stout is thin as well in this but, the aging does make up for that and compliments the Beer rather well.

Earlier Had the Oktoberfest from Bell's ( pic recycled ). I have consumed a fair share of different Oktoberfest with a few more to try. Right now the Bell's edged out GLBC version, which was cloudy and particulated this year?

side note: Yesterday I tried the new Stroh's in a sixer. Its a drinkable pilsner, my first impression isn't highly of it. Quality Beer don't get me wrong, just not sure if I dig the flavor yet. The Nostalgia factor is right at 10 though.I remember my school , a catholic one at that , did a tour of the Original Brewery in the early 80's. We even were given samples at 10-11 years old. dixie cups. .

Still sipping on this Wiseacre, but decided to share this, a very under-rated song from Giants.... Have a great weekend, my check ins will be inconsistent. Football will dominate this time..

Not around here! The Cars were half of my wedding night tunes, and still make up a good percentage of "classic" radio airtime on this side, despite their being from Boston.:stuck_out_tongue::grinning:

Seriously glad to hear Max is doing well. Didn't want to bug last week, but we're definitely thinking good vibes your way as a fellow fur baby parent. And keep loving what our coast has to offer beer wise! :grinning:. Cheers!

Cool September evening on a nice deck (Sovereign in Plainfield) with a good beer (Hailstorm Cumulus) and good music on the speakers (below). Had to post. Cheers, LNBAs!

Yep, Cars were always big in SoCal. At least they were 150 years ago, before I departed for the great unknown.
