If i could get some input. I'm heading to Philly for the weekend. Already on the agenda is Tired Hands, Monks, Memphis Taproom, Craft Beer Outlet. I'm going to have one full day and one night out (the girl is getting to pick the other day and night out. Are there any recommendations that are must? I will have a car, but prefer to use their public transit so i can drink more and not worry about it. Thanks and cheers.
If you do Monks, you could also hit Bru a few blocks away. They usually have a stellar draft list. Similarly, a few blocks from Memphis Taproom is Martha, a bar that tends to tap rare local kegs (think Tired Hands, Forest and Main, Vault, etc). Bainbridge Street Barrel House also has a consistently-stellar draft list, but not close to anything on your current itinerary. I could suggest a ton of other places in South Philly, but sounds like you won't be in this area so I'll hold off
If Monk's is too crowded, walk a block over to Jose Pistola's - and eat some amazing burritos to go with your craft beer. If you're looking of a specific beer or want to compare bars' taplists, check out http://www.phillytapfinder.com/
thank you both for the input. i wish there weren't so many diff apps to find beer, taphunter, beermenus, etc. but, at least they've avail. i actually might be in south philly for a bit on saturday afternoon. made in america fest is going to kill/murder some of my plans unfortunately with all the street closings.
Well your top spots in South Philly would be the POPE and Fountain Porter, both about a block away from each other on E Passyunk. I know there are a ton of beer taplist websites out there, but when in Philly all you need is PhillyTapFinder. Every bar that matters, taplists updated hourly. It's invaluable.
