So we're getting a taste of fall this weekend and it has me in the mood for pumpkin beers, so I'm sitting here with a New Belgium Pumpkick. Current personal favorite is Starr Hill's Boxcarr but I have yet to see it available so taking the time to try a few others.

What's everyone else's favorite pumpkin beers?

If I'm in the mood for a pumpkin beer, my go-to is Sam Adams Fat Jack (runner-up would be Elysian Night Owl).

As a treat though, I love me some Avery Pump[KY]n.

Tough to say really. I seem to lean towards pumpkin stouts the past few seasons. I think the flavors go great together.

Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout comes to mind but Wastach's black o lantern was good too.

As for "regular" pumpkin ales I know it's not necessarily a trendy/cool beer by any means but I have a soft spot for Brooklyn's PostRoad pumpkin.

I haven't had Jacks Abby Pumpkin Crop Lager in a while but I remember loving it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also, RIP Sixpoint Autumnnation (older 2011 version)

One of the best I've had was SA Pumpkin Batch, a saison brewed with real pumpkin and classic fall spices. The pumpkin gives it some nice body and sweetness without overpowering the yeast character. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it yet this year.

Central Waters Headless Heron is really good, too.

Ballast Point Pumpkin Down is terrific. Especially at 9$ a sixer.

Ballast Point Pumpkin Down (scotch ale)
    Elysian Punkaccino (coffee)
    Lancaster Baked (vanilla)

Enjoy them all for those differences.

Elysian has a full lineup of Pumpkin oriented Ales. The Night Owl, as far as I'm concerned, is only good for baking Pumpkin bread, but it makes a great Pumpkin bread at not too expensive to use for baking. The Puncucinno is great if you like espresso. I favor Dark O'The Moon (their Pumpkin Stout)and the Great Pumpkin (an Imperial Pumpkin Ale) myself.

To be honest, I quite enjoyed Breckenridge Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro stout, but apparently I'm the only one. (Oh well, more for me.) Sam Adams 20 Pounds was pretty decent. I've grown tired of Schlafly because the high ABV makes it too heavy for my taste. I plan on drinking more pumpkin beers this year, some years I take a break from them.

After decades of sampling dozens of non-barrel-aged examples, I now only buy the following:

    Stevens Point Whole Hog Pumpkin
    Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin
    Schlafly Pumpkin
    Dogfish Head Punkin

Drinking a pumpkin beer is like tasting the nostalgia of a fall festival to me. And as the Hudson Valley is so rich in farms I really tend to drink local pumpkin beers who can source their pumpkins to a farm, down to the guy who offloaded the truck; the use of real pumpkins can not be overstated. However, when I'm globalizing my search I agree with many of the previous:

    1) Stevens Point Whole Hog
    2)Schlafly Pumpkin
    3) Elysian Punkocinno
    4) Wolaver's Organic Pumpkin
    5) Jack's Abby Pumpkin Crop
    6) Horseheads Pumpkin Ale
