Still had a fair number of tickets as of 15 minutes ago. I wouldn't wait too much longer to head over though. As a bonus, they currently have imperial stone bu on tap.

I dunno, something about moving this so far out of Portland and then forcing people to buy tickets to an event that use to not do that only to make folk go an hour plus to a brewery to partake seems jacked imo. It is nice that tix can be had closer to ptown, but honestly this should have stayed in ptown.

Ticket secured. Are you here? I'm in the bench area drinking an imperial stone bu. Block 15 hat.

I took off as soon as I heard about the beermonger anniversary tap list. Am there now.

I like you, so I say this with respect, but dude sometimes stuff isn't in Portland. There are entire states without a Zwanze location, and Portland gets its share of special events. If the event is worth the location and logistics to you, make the effort. If not, don't. You will live either way.

Seattle (and Washington in general) got completely shut out in 2014 after a great Zwanze at Brouwers in 2013. Sometimes you don't get what you want. You'll live.

You should go to Cantillon.com and fill out their complaint form.

Not everything happens in Portland. Nor should it. I get that you're disappointed, but I don't agree with your disappointment. Zwanze Day at De Garde is a good and appropriate idea.

I don't get the personal attack-like responses.... it's cool that you guys like driving 1 plus hour to go to an event that has usually been open and offered a great atmosphere that was in a much more accessable area but making it personal is a bit odd. And I fail to see how any place is deserving for something, I mean when did things become all about that? Either way you all enjoy .

I didn't read into it they meant anything personal, just that they disagreed with you. It did go on a little long though.
    I think I'll have a beer.

Was about to say the same thing. I thought vurt and sharpski went out of their way to make it clear they were not making a personal attack. Just that they disagreed with Glen's opinion.

I just don't understand why Zwanze can't be at my house, it just makes no sense for me to even have to drive you know?

My comment on your post was not intended as an attack, and I'm sorry if it came across that way.

When I commented that it was appropriate that the event take place at De Garde,
I was referring to the fact that De Garde is very similar to Cantillon in many ways. Cantillon themselves recognize this, and I believe that's part of the reason they selected De Garde.

Does Cantillon's choice make things more difficult for you and other people who would prefer it were an open, Portland-local, non-ticketed event? Absolutely, and that is unfortunate for everyone who is affected. But that doesn't mean Cantillon made a bad choice, nor does it mean that De Garde is wrong to accept the honor.

@Phobicsquirrel your comment on page 1 was fine. When you made the same complaint two weeks later, it seemed like you were having trouble. Sometimes I lose perspective and need somebody to tap me on the shoulder; that's all I intended.

I'm sure this has been covered in another thread but for the life of me I can't find anything. Where do people usually stay nearby de garde? I thought I had heard there was a nearby hotel where people would bottle share? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

That was the Mar Clair, which was demolished due to a highway re-routing in that location.

Edit: There really isn't any place to stay "nearby de garde". The brewery is located a few miles south of Tillamook, and no hotels or restaurants are particularly convenient.

The Shilo Inn is a 10 minute drive or so. Stayed there at the last party and it was what you'd expect.

Yes that was the place. Didn't know it was demo'd. We booked the Ashley-bit cheaper than Shilo.

I found an Air BNB with a reasonable rate/fantastic reviews 15 mins away in netarts. Couple blocks from the ocean. Figure I'll walk to the beach after the festivities and watch the sunset and enjoy a beer or two.

I've always rented a house in Manzanita after de Garde good times.
