Good morning BAs. I'd like to point out that 1418 is still active so this may get merged (If I had started the thread it definitely would get merged, that's why I NEVER start them). Today's Texas Breakfast Beer is :



An OK stout but the pretzel angle is up for debate.

 

5.5% alcohol. Brewed in South Carolina.

 

Sleeping late into the morning is getting to be a habit. Is there a hashtag for improper glassware?

Happy Thursday everyone (Throwback or not)! Great discussions yesterday, excellent grammar, wonderful garages , better food , and even better beer! That kind of about sum's it, right? Good! Remember to get ready for Stein Club Sunday, but now, let's get to the Glass of the Day Awards!

GotD: Cheers and congrats to @guinness77 for your gold rimmed Ommegang Abbey Ale chalice with appropriate libation. The picture on it sets the tone for what WBAYDN stands for... celebration and camaraderie.
2nd: Another award goes to myself...I MEAN to @dcotom , for another light hearted and fun (not to mention proper!) watermelon glass.
3rd: If you don't love Old Rasputin, then shame on you! Luckily for @cindyjeffsmith , the Staff does, and a fine and deserving Ol' Raspy glass it is.

Honorable mentions go out to @smakawhat for some seriously saturated fresh Cascade hops infused DFH glass, and to @MattyG85 for putting in some serious work on that red Solo cup. You all know by now that I gotta give credit where credit's due!

Good day people! A throwback Thursday of sorts revisiting one of, if not my favorite planet. It's difficult to believe the bottle date is 04/03/15 already. I'm happy to report that everything is fine with Saturn. This beer is aging nicely and tasting more like a barrel aged English barleywine or old ale versus the hoppy profile I remember. The color seems to have darkened turning it more amber. The smell is very bourbon forward and the taste is also. There are notes of sweet caramel, burnt brown sugar, floral, oak and whiskey. The hops have subsided opening up more complex flavors. It still packs considerable alcohol heat after nearly a year and a half. Quite a bit of floaties now as a result of aging. If you're still lucky enough to have some dusting up your cellar, I suggest you check one out soon.

Heading indoors to tend to some tasks and escape the mosquitos which were stirred up by a little rain last night. It feels slightly cooler and the humidity isn't oppressive like the past couple of days. A few leaves are starting to change, it won't be long now. I'm definitely looking forward to some NFL action tonight!
