I manage a recycle facility and get stupid amounts of packing material and great boxes for shipping. I have given away a good amount to friends in past, but have so much now that I cannot get rid of it all to people I know. I would love to find a way to get the message to local beer traders, to meet them and give it away. I would ship it out to folks, but don't want to have to pay to get it to anyone (other than the gas to drive to meet them, which I would be happy to do) Looking for ideas of what to do. I hate seeing packaging material enter the waste stream so I would love to have a way to take all I see and have folks able to re use it. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks
You could ask trade partners if they want extra. Pack up your beer box, then put it in a bigger box with a bunch of your extra packing materials. Partner gets the materials you used for the trade as well as the bigger box and extra materials. Probably a bit extra on shipping.
Huh, not bad. I sorta do that now, since I get it all free I way overpack for safety. I do not trade enough to get rid of it all though. And in trades I get sent material back to me. Good idea though, thanks, will definitely start doing even more severe overpacking. But any other ideas keep em coming, folks
Would this be a legal post in IP trade Forum? New Paltz, NY area- FT: 1 Bottle of Budweiser+ huge amount of boxes, bubble wrap, peanuts, styrofoam, padded mailers ISO: 1 Bottle Coors Willing to drive to nearby cities to meet up.
Dave- I'd love to take you up on it, but don't know when the best time would be at the moment. Hopefully we could do it in Haverstraw soon enough.
@cavedave Speaking for the *moderating* team, I don't see an issue with posting something above, as it, technically speaking, does meet the criteria. Also, anytime you can recycle and give something away that will benefit/help someone in the community is a *win-win*. Cheers!
Thanks was hoping to get an official reading on this. Will be posting in near future, since I have a crazy amount I have rescued. Cheers!
