Alchemist beers: drink from the can?

If you pour the bottom of the can into a glass I find it too resinous.

 

I say drink it from your favorite glass. I still think the "Drink from the can" thing is just so people would enjoy it most from the mindset of 5+ years ago, when the world wasn't quite ready for a cloudy/turbid looking IPA visual in a glass. Then it was a turn-off. Now its all the rage.

 

There is really no reason you can't do both with a single can. Pour 1/2 to 2/3 of the can into a glass and enjoy drinking that. Drink the rest of the beer from the can and enjoy that. Both of these drinking experiences are excellent for my personal palate.

Proper glassware for a Heady is a can. It says it right there. You don't have to guess. It's the can.

 

I cant shotgun heady out of a glass... Can it is.

 

I got heady on tap a few times. It wasnt served in a can. Weird. Also odd that the alchemist sells many types of glassware. Is the glassware a money grab?

I like drinking from cans but the instruction to do so is more of a slogan and/or suggestion than anything else. Kimmich himself says it should be consumed from the can but then pours every beer he decribes in videos out. Even he is confused.

 

I try to follow directions, so I drink Heady and Focal from the can. There is no "drink from the can" instruction on the Crusher label, so I pour it into a glass. Lots of floaties!

Exactly. And for reviewing, the glass comes in handy.

 

Love it either way. If you don't want to drink from the can, call me " I'll be there to take it off your hands"

 

Or save some of the decanted roughage from each can before re-cantation to re-ferment with green tea and fresh ginger to produce New England Medley Beerbucha Allprobiotica.

 

When they correct the can art to a dude actually drinking from the can, I might consider it....

 

I've had Heady both ways and I don't really care for one way more than the other. Focal Banger though... I would never drink that precious substance from a can.

 

When I first got them I reviewed them for this site, and tried them both ways. However after switching between both ways I started drinking them solely from the can, as I preferred it that way.

So its a "to each his own" situation, though for me I like it much more from the can, and I am usually a tulip guy when it comes to IPAs. So try both and go with your gut, you can't go wrong with Heady or Focal man.

I did half and half........drank half from the can and poured some in a glass. Smite me if you will but I didn't get much difference. Try from the can though for fun.

 

I do what the hell I want. I don't need a can telling me how to drink!





Seriously though, after buying a case of Heady a few years ago I found it's not so much the glass vs. can, but rather fresh agitated cans vs. those that sit cold without agitation for a few weeks.

I prefer the former...from the can or a glass.

Always a glass. The "Drink from the can" thing is bullshit.
John Kimmich only said that because hazy beers were uncool at the time, and, well, most of us like our IPAs hazy now.

 

No no no, swirl and pour... swirl and pour.

 

Do what you like, but I've done the comparison blindfolded and the difference was clear as day for me (no pun intended ). The decanted one was so much brighter and cleaner tasting.

At the very least, people should try for themselves when they have a chance.
