October is approaching, which means we're once again looking for exceptional US breweries that have opened in the past year for our 6th annual "Class of 20XX" feature. (Check out our 2015 picks.) The article will appear in the January issue of BeerAdvocate magazine.

Please post suggestions below or send them to: editorial [at] beeradvocate.com with "Class of 2016" in the subject line and a 1–2 sentence pitch as to why we should consider a particular brewery. Why does it stand out? What makes it great to you?

Please note that in 2015 close 600 breweries opened in the United States and things haven't slowed down much since. In other words, while all nominations will be considered, we unfortunately can't include every suggestion in the mag. Thanks!

    Dovetail in Chicago.
A tale of two brewers who like traditional lagers. Open fermentation, and the old test system for a famous German brewery. A second floor with a coolship, and also a room full of barrels for a solera program.

I just wanted to second this. These guys are doing amazing "traditional" German/Czech/Belgian/Polish styles. They are worth a mention simply because they aren't chasing the New England IPA phenomenon and are instead seeking out the perfect balance and drinkability of different traditions. Here's hoping their "lambics" turn out as amazing as their Lager (the closest US version I've had to the absolute perfection that is unfiltered/unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell) and Grodziskie (in the running for most refreshing beer possible).

Came here to say this. I've traded for their delicious hoppy magic twice now and I'm literally hooked. Some of the best IPAs in the world IMO.

Transient in Bridgeman, Michigan is outstanding. While Transient has been putting out some quality beers as a "gypsy brewing" operation, the brewery location opened earlier this year. They are doing some really high-level beers across a number of styles. I know people have enjoyed their stouts for some time but the new IPAs they are doing are one of those hidden gems that compare with the best.

I have to add an honorable mention to my buddies at Metal Monkey Brewing in Romeoville, IL. Nothing canned or bottled yet but they are putting out some really good beers. I think you are going to be hearing a lot more from them.

Suarez Family Brewing - Dan Suarez (pedigree: Greenpoint, Sixpoint, Hill Farmstead) opened his brewery on a very quiet country road in Livingston, NY, and he's making some amazing hop forward, low ABV pale ales and lagers with a barrel-aged program in the works. The beers are amazing, and the space is beautiful too. It's hard to find anything like it with this beer portfolio and approach.

As previously noted by others, I was extremely impressed during my visit in June to Foam. Great beers, and wonderful location. I've been telling friends for months that I fully anticipate hearing about/seeing it listed as one of the best new/up and coming breweries in the country.
