Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I am going to brew up a saison today with Citra and Mosaic hops as I kicked a keg earlier in the week, but I still have a whole other empty keg around too; so I need to decide what to make next weekend. First time using Danstar Belle saison yeast, heard good things about it.

    Beer this morning:

Always fantastic IPA. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with honey/biscuit/light caramel malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium pine/rind bitterness; balanced sticky/resins and light creaminess in the mouthfeel. Moderate dryness, highly drinkable, zero hop astringency. Simply another of many classic IPAs I will always love. All C-Hops with Amarillo, decent malt presence but still very drying. Classic hop flavors will never go out of style for me.

Last bottle from the 4 pack. Awesome as usual. A bit different than last year's original batch. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted bread, and light roasted malts. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness; balanced creaminess and sticky/resins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resinous dryness. Very smooth, lightly warming ABV finish. The malt character feels more pronounced than it was in the 750 batch. More caramel and creaminess; but I actually prefer it like this vs last year. Much more juicy feeling on hops.

Tasting insane right now! Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, tobacco, and light smoke/charred malt; with some light herbal/piney hops. Bittersweet roast balanced finish; amazing creamy/silky/slick and lush dense full body. I keep ended up finding more of these on the shelf around here(this week even), so I still have a handful left again. I can only hope they bring this beer back in one form or another. This does have a lot of similarities to Expedition in flavors; but it has more of a sweeter and less drying roast/char finish. Lightly warming finish, but very smooth sipping.

Awesome saison! Flavors of bright lemon, lime, pear, apple, orange zest, white grape, peppercorn, clove, hay, straw, grass, and light musty funkiness; with some light honey/crackery malts. Nice spicy yeast finish with a touch of tartness. Light-medium bodied and medium-high carbonation. Lightly grainy malt, hop/yeast stickiness, and acidity in the mouthfeel. Crisp, dry, and refreshing. I am really glad we get these in MI now through Shelton. April 2015 batch, and it's absolutely delicious. I love their local wild yeast down there. Same could be said about Jolly Pumpkin. Will buy again.

What would be a good choice for this early autumn morning? Ah, I've got it . . .

Appearance of shimmering medium amber gold with white cap and good lacing.

Aromma is made up of rich caramel malt marching forth with hops singing in the background.

Flavor is rich, rounded and a bit voluptuous yet somehow restrained. Like the St. Pauli Girl, it shows just enough. A pleasant toffeeish malt taste first and building on that is a feeling as if the taste is expanding outward, yet staying on the same path. Hops join in the fun just before mid palate then grow along with the larger flavor to the end. Finish is clean with a receding richness in the aftertaste that fades quickly leaving absolutely no bitterness in it's wake.

    Texture is medium and silky.

Overall this one needs no tinkering, it's just fine, leave it alone. Well rounded old school gold medal category every day ale. Complex enough for comment, approachable for drinkers of any level and adaptable to any occasion that calls for a beer. Just darn good stuff.

Happy first weekend of autumn BA's....yea, it is cooler and nice today and the forecast feels more "fall-like" with temps in the 70's and sunny...I dig it!

Been enjoying more marzen's this season, and liking several new ones (to me), including this guy from 2 Roads and the FW Oaktoberfest, also in pint cans....yum!
