Lots of gaps here but this is a basic explanation.

Saturated steam has moisture still in it, you can see it. Superheated steam has no moisture in it. Superheated steam is made when you reheat saturated steam. Think of it like distilling. Superheated steam has a greater capacity to carry heat (energy). The former you can see if you have a leak, the latter you can not (and it can rip an arm off). You can hear the leak though and the basic way to find it is with a broom. Bristles fly off, you found your leak.

All modern power generation uses superheated steam to operate the turbines that spin the generators. More efficient.

One very interesting tidbit about PTPC: In a couple of places in the steam system (and it runs for miles) there are valves that were obtained as 'spoils of war' from WWII. Cast into the valve body is an eagle and a swastika.

This gets my vote for the most interesting and obscure piece of trivia that I've yet seen on the NW forum. There are probably lots of other contenders for this prize. Those of you with long memories are invited to submit your favorites.

    Yes, this is a digression.

Beats the hell out of the annual "Celebration is different this year" threads, doesn't it?

I'm a bit late on this but on the way back take the ferry from Pt Townsend to Whidbey Island. It's a good idea to make a reservation for this sailing. Penn Cove Brewing in Coupeville has a good variety of beer on tap. The Tap House at Bay View Corner, near Langley, also has a good selection of beer on tap.
When you get off the Clinton/Mukilteo ferry Diamond Knot brewing is on your right as you leave the ferry. Pretty good food and they make some good beers. Access to this ferry is usually good during the week. It can back up for up to 90 minutes at times but during the week and in the off season there is not usually a wait.
As you head into Seattle, Fremont Brewing is not far off the I-5.

Quickest way to tell if someone is from WA? The way in which they refer to I-5.

    I-5: Native
    The I-5: probably not

Well I am back at my hotel for the night and have to say I am giving these a +1

    Propolis Brewing
    Sound Brewing
    Siren's

    Not so much
    Engine Company No. 9

Was really hoping to try out more at Propolis, but did not get into PT till 6:45 on Sunday and thus could only order one beer before it closed. Then during the week, could not go out anywhere since the plant startup schedule got condensed. I thought tonight I would have plenty of time for checking out the Pourhouse and Propolis again.

Well I got done, had dinner, and got called back in. So by the time I was done Propolis was done, and Pourhouse already had last call.

So I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, even if it did not go according to plan.

I have to go back in tomorrow, so don't think I will have any time in Seattle before my flight. But If there was one place near the airport, if I had time, what would you guys pick?

The area around the airport is a bit of a wasteland for beer. Closest options would be Pit Stop Bottleshop and Elliot Bay Brewing in Burien.

Bumping this thread cause why not.

My wife and I are heading up to PT this weekend for her birthday. Staying at Ravenscroft BNB in town, planning on hitting up Propolis (their to-go bottle list looks killer), dinner at Silverwater Cafe, movie at the Rose Theater and probably later drinks at Pourhouse. Maybe PT Brewing. Anything I missed? Good cocktails for her somewhere?

Sirens has spirits, not sure how "fancy" they get with making cocktails though.

My wife drinks Old fashioneds and Manhattans, so as long as they've got decent Bourbon she's happy.
