Haven't tried feeding the fanatics yet. Have 2 small growlers from last Friday fill. I think its time to open one later today into the evening. I have been enjoying the ipa's offered at the brewery and bringing them home to enjoy as well. Maybe the can frenzy will slow down one day? lol.
My brother in law who was nice enough to fill the growlers on Friday also bought a bottle of Knowledge and Peace. We both tried it that Friday night. I don't get it. I did not care for it. Not my style. He hated it as well. But he's a miller lite guy. He thought it was spoiled & old miller lite beer. I mean I have tried in the past and will continue to try the other style's of beers. Very few I thought were any good. When in Brussels thats all I had to drink. So it's a good thing for Monks that Henry brought ipa's into his brewery.

So how many guns would you give it on a scale from 1 to 5 Guns? 5 being the best .

    For K&P?
3.33 guns. That's half of 6.66 if it was on a scale of 1-10 guns. But I don't do those styles often. So my Monk's (other than ipa's) styles I cannot really say. Not much experience. The bottles of Cantillon I brought back from Brussels this year I thought were pretty good compared to some of the other beers I had there. And I was trying everything in 3 days. I will go back and bring more bottles for home sharing. Worth it. I heard Gunwhale Artisan Ales will be in the similar style when they open. Maybe they will brew a NE style juicy ipa?

They are in Costa Mesa right across the street from Barley Fart Brewery. Soon (hopefully 2016?) to be open. Head brewer is Derek from Beach City. Like everything else the work is slowly coming together. Specializing in farmhouse ales, stouts and ipa's. Barrel stuff too. Stopped by a few times and progress is........getting there.

Stopped in yesterday since I was in the neighborhood grabbing my Snugglebug bottles. Feeding the Fanatics on draft was really good and we also cracked an in house bottle of Vellichor w/ Raspberry that I thought was pretty fantastic. Very sour but the raspberry was deliciously prominent. Sad to have missed this release last week.

Had a boysenberry and raspberry on site Saturday.

Both were really sour (And I drink Bruery sours) with muted fruit.

Raspberry was best when cold, but the boysenberry did gain some complexity when it warmed up. Boysenberry smelled like Knotts Berry farm though, I'd almost open a bottle just for that.

Wait, what's the issue with Barley Forge? I've only had a few of their beers and thought they were good (not mindblowing but better than average), tasting room is cool, and the food they serve is pretty solid

Been there a few times too. Didn't care for the Patsy. Orange Curtain was better than their DIPA. Haven't really tried their specialty's beers. Food is good. Nice tasting room. Didn't say I hated the place. Just messing with the name. Last time I was there was last year before the OC Fair. We've just got other choices in and around the OC area. Now that Gunwhale is across the street from BF I may walk over for another visit. Haven't visited Chapman Crafted or Unsung yet. And Bottle Logic? I need to get over there and try their take on the NE style dankness.

Good for them. It'll be interesting to see if this changes things (and allows HPB to use the mobile canning line more)

Uhg, just as long as this doesn't eventually end up messing with my Friday 2pm growler fill routine.

Stopped by Torrance yesterday since I needed to pick up my Snugglebug pre-orders from Smog and was too busy to get my ass down there until the very last day! Of course, I also hit up Monkish and got the very last fill of Feeding the Fanatics; bar staff told me they were literally about to take it off growler fills if I hadn't walked in at that very moment, good timing (though I would have been just as satisfied getting a fill of Cassette). As they're erasing the growler fill symbol off the board, an entire Beer Tour bus crew walks in and the look on their faces as they saw that tiny chalk marking being smudged out was priceless. Even better timing on my part! Also got a pour of Spoon Sweets and bottles of Ghetto Bird and Knowledge and Peace. Overall, an excellent trip to two of my favorite local breweries. (Not to be off topic but the latest batch of California Love = :sunglasses:)

Also good to see that they finally got their own canning line in. My sources tell me that they are indeed going to change up the can release format from being fairly regular Saturday releases to being random days of the week whenever the beer is ready to be sold. Hopefully, that cuts down on most of the line/beer bro/chair BS. Cheers!
