What beer are you drinking now? #1442

Up early, watching some Ryder Cup. Always see some amazing shots in this tourney. Enjoying a Sunday Morning Stout on the wrong day. But we shouldn't be burdened by taking our beer naming so literally, right?




Good, I was hoping you might think so, because be next Throwback Thursday is going to happen on a Friday!!!



Hopefully a few BAs who moderate themselves to weekend drinking can join in. Plus, I liked the sequel idea. Plus, I don't need to defend myself (and you don't need to participate if you are soooooo offended ).

But seriously, I hope you do. Take the next couple weeks to peruse your beer store for a beer or three that you haven't had in a while. Maybe one you have forgotten about and used to really enjoy or one you didn't care for, but now that your palate has adjusted you want to give another chance.

For the thread: take a couple sentences to tell us the back story, your current experience, and maybe whether you updated your review or if you might put the beer back in the rotation (or conversely, you are upset I tricked you again into drinking some crap beer you thought you had put behind you ).

You have three weeks to ruminate. I won't bombard you with these ads, yet. Maybe in about a week, week and a half, if I can control myself .

 

Dude, I don't say this often, but I am in love with that glass! Roggenbier is my favorite style, but unfortunately very hard to come by . The only U.S. versions I have had don't even come close to the real deal. That's it...I'm going roggen hunting!

Pachamama Porter- Two Roads and Evil Twin

Brewed with sweet potatoes, purple maize and aji panca chilis. Great beer. Very easy going inoffensive porter. I feel the maize and potatoes might have been used to mash in. Theres no flavors of those. It has great feel to it. If i find out this beer is gluten free then ill know for sure.

Hey, the sun is starting to peak out....I am getting outside...back soon!

 

October. One of my favorite months of the year. Cool weather, changing leaves and Halloween. I am going to spend the next 31 days enjoying horror movies, Joy Division and Oktoberfests.
Of course I wanted to start with a German beer but for some reason they weren't stocked at the store I went to this morning. For now I am going with something new to Connecticut. Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest.

Gorgeous looking beer, perhaps a bit light. Also a little hoppy but that is to be expected.

no. that's why i was sort of surprised. the last 2 i opened, had a sour scent that seemed to rest or was concentrated near the top/neck. it dissipated after a period of time un-lidded.

mine are from 2 different locations about a week apart but they all had the same bottle date. due to early concern i threw everything in the fridge in December. because of space constraints, i didn't keep any track of which bottles were from which location, so i can't say if my experience has been 1 location's bottles. of the 4 i've had, 2 smelled like trouble, but turned out to be drinkable . this one was fine. go figure.

Happy Saturday BA's! Welp, I'm done celebrating one thing (and thanks again everyone for the love), time to celebrate the next. My daughters 3rd Annual Audtoberfest (her name is Audrey ) Birthday Party is only a few hours away, so it's time to shake off last nights debacle and get into host mode. Remember: Tomorrow's Stein Club Sunday closes out the official O'Fest, so let's make it epic ! And now, it's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

GotD: I love it when you guys make it easy on the Staff. That being said, cheers and congrats to @JouerAvecLeFeu for starting us off yesterday with an out of this world rocket ship glass!
2nd: Again...easy. Any other day, @cjgiant , and this would have GotD all over it. Cheers to my favorite city, an awesome mug, and everyone's (or at least mine) favorite rauchbier! Proper indeed!
3rd: Helluva Erdinger Weisse glass from @JuicesFlowing from its frosted bottom to the soccer ball molded top. Stunner.

Honorable mentions go out to @Oopssorryy for a couple fine entries including this 1999 Cameo Ball Hurricane glass, and to @deldrice for a proper and complete Jackie O's advertisement.

This one really surprised me, loaded with spices and actually really good. Need to have the regular version to compare, but I like it.

 

I always dig a good Pinot Noir...
