The Coalesce and Geek Nip were brewed by Jon.

Also, pretty embarrassing that they're having Fizzics demo there. Wtf is that about?

That's what I was hoping. Hopefully it lasts another 1 hour.

Maybe you can bring the flat, un carbonated cans of Coalesce and Method there to be "recharged"

    Trip Report:

The atmosphere is more social and they're making more of an effort to be friendly. There's a woman working the floor to keep people happy and also asking for input about beers and the overall experience. They were very open that "The Johns" were gone and they're trying to move forward. They said they're keeping brews like Geek Nip, Big Bad Bunny, etc. but they can't keep Coalesce because they don't have the Nelson. They will be canning, but will be contracting that out to Stony Creek. They said the mobile canning line was a disaster.

They now have a separate line for samples (which they're very generous with) and fills for when it's busy but it's still a slow operation with one guy running the show for the most part. After standing there for a while with my wallet in my hand, I had to ask to pay so I could leave. They're also selling full pours for $5.

I'm sipping on Geek right now and it's like OJ. Who knows how things will go moving ahead. I'm sure I'll swing through again in a few weeks.

Coalesce is their best beer. This is idiotic if true.

I'm guessing this has more to do with the hop contract and not bad decision making. If they're about to start contracting with Stony Creek they probably don't have and, can't get enough, Nelson to brew large batches of Coalesce. It's possible they may still brew small batches at the brewery. Personally, I don't care. I doubt I'll be heading back up that way any time soon. I live a bit over an hour away, and there are a lot of great options around that haven't left a bad taste in my mouth (figuratively).

That's interesting. You need a permit to have full pours. Pretty sure they don't.

Any info on the chocolate porter? Is it also one of the last Jon brews?

Honestly, I don't really care what the reason is. Until I read your post, I didn't even realize it had nelson in it. For some reason I thought it was driven by citra and columbus. Either way, it's been their best regularly brewed beer. When I think of SHBC, I think of Coalesce first and foremost followed by Nip, Method, and BBB.

I believe the two hops are Nelson and Citra not all Nelson. But regardless I agree. It's my favorite

Correct. And I, too, agree in terms of it being their best.

That's what I was thinking, you just don't start pouring full pours because you want to.

It's always a good sign when you start deleting Facebook comments because people are saying mean things about Fizzics.

So, about this Fizzics thing... a quick google search just brings you to this stupid home dispensing system where you put a bottle, or growler of can into the unit and it pours your beer for you (and adds some CO2?). What is it's application on the commercial scale? Unless it's a shortcut to carbonating your brew? I don't get it.

I was wondering the same. The gadget seems gimmicky and I am not sure why SH would "host" them unless if it is some sort of marketing ploy, which appears to be equally as gimmicky. I hope Jon lands on his feet somewhere because I have a strong suspicion that Steady may not be long for this world. FWIW, I haven't been to Hanging Hills nor Forest City nor Cold Creek and only once to Fat Orange Cat but will definitely give these places a shot before venturing back to SH. One man's opinion but I think it is shared by many.

Here's a video. But yeah the claim is that by putting your can/growler/bottle through the machine it adds aroma and a better head. Mouthfeel apparently changes too. It doesn't add CO2, it uses sound oscillation (i dunno, that's what they say) to enhance the existing CO2.

I watched a couple of other videos on it (they were on Shark Tank) and the unit costs them $36.00, they sell it for $150.00, and apparently they're selling a lot of them.

That little piece of shit dispensing system has no place in a brewery. They have to be developing a commercial model that takes beer from a keg, through a jockey box type of set-up and adds their magic sauce. maybe, possibly? I dunno. But yeah, SH is not on my radar with what's happened.

Brew your beer properly, can/keg it properly, (if kegged) pour a growler properly and store it properly. Not really sure what this widget is for except maybe to add a "nitro" feel to a can/bottle of outdated, crappy macro. If so, how quickly Steady has fallen.

Good friend of Jons so I'm staying quiet on all of this but I'll guarantee I'll never drink another sh beer let alone go there again.
