There seems to be nothing even close to a consensus on any of those September cans. People are blaming oxidizing, date of drinking v. canning, etc. It seems like no two people got the same beer. Pulse Wave was my favorite and just cracked a second one tonight.

What is 'a IIPA pace' for you? Generally takes me about 45 mins or a little longer to finish 16oz.

i think i might be in the minority here but i'm no longer going to chase any grimm cans at 1/2pp. Too much good beer in the area and the quality is just way too varied since the new year. I imagine its extremely difficult to not only rely on a mobile canning unit but to also contract brew each of the ipa's. it's just obvious that the lack of the grimm's own controlled environment and operation is affecting quality. the talent is apparent and i hope a space is coming soon.

side note: all the september beers sound amazing. especially the blue hill collab thats some nytimes mag shit.

How many times are you going to post the same thing? We get it. You're not chasing cans anymore. Go pick up your "first dude to declare Grimm over" medal and your complimentary tote bag by the door.

I'm not sure what good NYC cans are out there that you don't have to chase.

LIC, Interboro, Other Half, Finback, GreenPoint. In all fairness you do have to travel to the brewery for some of these but no chasing or line waiting needed.

had a bad can of lambo last night - it wasn't too badly oxidized but the can was only filled maybe 80% and had muted flavors and was undercarbed. considering i had to pay $9 for a single can, it was very disappointing.

to me at least, i didn't get any semblance of what i would call west coast ipa from pulse wave. there was no bitterness, only melon. had to double check to make sure i wasn't drinking a lambo door based on other people's posts.

does anyone know if other half owns their own canning line? i've had many more cans from them without encountering any quality control issues - doesn't seem like there's any recent posts about it on their thread either.

Other Half doesn't own their own canning line.

Really? I live about 5 minutes away from Other Half and have never wanted to get up at 8am on a Saturday morning to wait in line for cans. Maybe I had the wrong impression and it's easier than I presumed. LIC started popping up on beermenus and their cans are gone in an instant too. I'm not a big fan of finback or greenpoint but I get your point. Interboro is off to a good start but too soon to say. Don't they only have 1 can?

For me, getting a can of grimm isn't any more trouble than the rest.

Get to OH between 11-12pm (closer to 12) and unless it is a major hyped release, you'll easily get cans.

Both times LIC canned they lasted at least a week, and both were very good.

Never said Grimm was over. They're still my favorite brewers. I just want them to have their own space and have said that for over a year now. I think the scene is evolving to where the up and coming breweries in NYC have a better handle on the whole operation and it must be extremely tough to rely on mobile canning services and other facilities while trying all of these new recipes.

I'll probably keep posting the same thing as long as people keep complaining about WH limits or the pricing of the cans or the lack of availability over and over again. Too much good beer in this city but carry on with "WF Chelsea 1 each pp. GO!"

i went today at lunch and they didn't have it. i think their beer delivery just arrived because i saw a pile of beer cases behind the cheese counter.

i agree 100. the other day i was going to go to eastern for a can, but said fuck it. it's one can and i've got a fridge full of greenpoint, lic, finback, threes and oh. it just doesn't make sense. grimm makes great beers, but i've gotten too lazy to chase with so many great options easily available.

I'd be disappointed in any can of beer I paid $9 for...

i generally agree for an IPA but things are completely barren near where i work to pick up grimm and the 30-60 minutes of travelling time that would be required to chase these cans, not to mention i don't buy an unlimited metro card for my commute, more than offsets the 2-3 dollar premium on a can.

it would be one thing if i can buy like 8 cans in one shot and not the 1-4 cans you can pick up if you're lucky...

This ended up being my problem as well. When I first had Lambo Door and Pulse Wave the Monday they arrived at the place near me, they were utterly fantastic (Lambo Door's always been my favorite DIPA) and I had a can every day last week, but when I tried it again this week it became very muted. Not the tropical juice bomb that lives up to the Grimm hype. My Pulse Wave cans got boozy/malty as well... Still waiting on the Splish verdict, but it was delicious when I had it on Monday.

I feel like it's a canning issue that is creating this inconsistency/incredibly short shelf life, but either way I hope Joe and Lauren secure their own space soon (mainly because I'll take up residence there).

Does anyone know if there will be a can/bottle release next week. I'm going to be in manhatten wed-sat.
