CANBIF Fall 2016

My box is now heading East!
I'm not sure how the whole ml to oz calc's work because I don't trust google's ability to accurately measure volume liquid in translation.... and 7.8 Litres (7800ml) psychologically sounds way better that 200 whatever ounces! It's almost 2 full 4L milk jugs full of beer! I desperately hope my target enjoys and appreciates my selections which are ALL provincially local (and I tried to find some of those farm-level super micros that hopefully have never really been heard of out East) None of what I sent appears on their extensive "hads" list I can guarantee that at least

 

A hefty box in any measure!

 

To whoever has me as a target: I will be out of town from October 4-11 so if you can avoid shipping, that'd be greeeeeaaaat. Thaaaaaaaaanks.

 

Got distracted this weekend with baseball and other things so not much time for beer shopping...but have 3-4 goodies from the cellar set aside and need to make a run into another province to pick some stuff up. Think I should be able to top things off with a growler or two from local breweries and fill up a box with enough beer to drown an elephant.

I'm pretty open minded. If you think it's good I would love to try it. Even better if I can knock something off the Canadian Top 100.

Dislikes:

Again, I am open to pretty much anything....but strongly flavoured beers would be lower on my "want" list....pumpkin, maple, etc. But if you think it's good, I still want to try it.

 

16kg of beer (and a wee bit of packaging) officially en route.

 

Think I already know who's sending to me, they have poor ninja skills but I'll drink anything really. Going to be sharing the whole box one night with friends so the more seasonal, fresh, unique the better but no whalz required. Plenty of breweries out East I've never even heard of.

 

To my target:

You are very much east of me and have not posted much. From some digging it looks like your into heavier beers so I will dig some out of my cellar and send your way plus some local stuff.

To whoever has me:

For better or for worse I am a ticker and love trying something new. I am hoping you send me some local offerings that you love or seasonal that aren't around all the time. I am not the biggest fan of barley wines, quads and dubbels but when the moment strikes I find I do enjoy them. I love IPAs, DIPAs and Sours but most everyone does. I look forward to having what ever is sent my way.

I think for the second time in a row, he purposely, and with a wicked smile, picked the guy with the most ratings on untappd.

To my target: I will respect your wish for delivery. I thought I would be safe with my local breweries but you have had beers from them that I did not even know existed!
I will thus go on a special local beer run to complete my box. I will try very hard to pick beers that you have not had yet.

I am GRM on RateBeer. I enjoy imperial stouts but will greatly appreciate anything from your neck of the wood.

Afternoon...

I'm one of those late participants to post.
My apologies to my sender, as other than forum contributions I'm a bit of a ghost of this site.

I will keep it simple and say I enjoy most anything!!!
I have a preference to farmhouse beers, and especially as we embark into fall I enjoy my fair share of big stouts/ porters, and barrel aged beers.
I am, however, not the biggest fan of barleywine or pumpkin beers (given the season).

To my target:

You have already posted in this thread, and I am again sending my box westward!

 

To my western target, you will get a bunch of good local beers and a few little surprises too! I already took a look at what you had and this way I hope to help you discover some new beers.

To whoever has me, I'm really open with almost anything. Can't stand smoked beers though and not a big fan of Belgian style beers. I must say I'm a big fan of IPA, stout, sour ales and barleywine. I'll be happy with anything since the main goal is to discover new breweries from across the country!

Box is almost ready to go. Just waiting on a couple fresh things to drop over the next week.

My wife is happy that my target liked my earlier post meaning a good portion of the box is coming from the cellar.

I'm a bit slower going this time around as I've ended up splitting the box with someone. We've taken a look at our cellars to grab a couple of beers. I also swapped beers with another friend to find something new for my target, and will take a trip to a local brewery or two to try to pick up some tasty hoppy beer. Should be good to ship early next week!

My target is in a province I have sent to before.

 

I hope my target likes stuff from the mid-west b/c I just loaded my backpack up. This will likely be the most American beer I've sent for a CanBIF.

 

303 oz in the mail today. Hopefully comin' around the bend on Tuesday.
