Fall is in full glory here in Maine. This year I'm seeing colors which are pretty unique. The silver maple in my yahd (wink) which only turns yellow is showing hints of red and purple.
Trying a new beer today. Sebago Hop swap. Delicious dank west coast style IPA with sunset golden color, piney and floral nose, citrus and piney appropriately bitter taste.
Yummy. First Sebago beer that I actually loved! Almost reminds me of NoDa Hop Drop and Roll.

Good morning, all! Question: if you're not scheduled to work but you have to attend a staff meeting, is it still a day off? Rather than indulging in endless navel-gazing and chicken-and-egg philosophizing, I'm going straight to the ol' Magic 8-Ball: "Signs point to yes." So now it's time to wake up with Bell's Two Hearted, and I figured it would be aesthetically perfect for this glass I found at TJ Maxx this weekend:


The thick conical stem makes the glass feel like it's custom made for your hand. It's perfectly balanced, with the indentation on the base of the stem providing a fulcrum point for your pinky. Atop the massive stem sits a delicate crystal goblet from which it is a delight to drink. While hefting the glass and admiring the workmanship, I found this little surprise. Designer glassware for $2.99!

Many years ago, I took a September trip to New England for some hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Mt. Katahdin in the fall is an unbelievably stunning sight, as are the birch and maple forests. (Fenway on a cold and rainy September night? Not so much...)

So today's a funny day - we celebrate a guy who didn't even do his job (wasn't he supposed to sail to India/Asia?), who vaguely gets credit for something he didn't do (you want to say he discovered America, but we all know it was really the vikings, or more accurately, the native Americans), and who, as far as we know, was a pretty terrible person (tyrant, murderer, slaver, etc.)... lol

But hey, it's a day off, eh?

This one should be called Old Bastard!



While not terrible by any means, it's a shadow of it's former self and a reminder why I don't cellar these long term anymore. It's smooth with sweet caramel, but the bourbon has faded substantially. On the bright side, the new batch should be landing soon!
