headed to Disney next month going to be in Jacksonville for a couple days before Disney. Any tips on places to go and breweries to see before my kid and wife bankrupt me at Disney!

I am hopeful you will find this thread helpful, at least as it pertains to your time in/near Disney. Not sure when, exactly, you will be in JAX but you may be there in time for this release.

Aardwolf is, IMO, the best brewery in JAX (over 10 breweries there), and just a few blocks off of I-95 South. If you have more time, head over to the Riverside neighborhood and check out Bold City, and Intuition, which are just a few blocks apart.

Yes. Tell wife and kid Disney blew away in the hurricane. Drive to Tampa. Drink all the beers. Just saved $300+/day! Your welcome.

I'd recommend Green Room if you end up in Jax Beach. There are others close by, like Engine 15, too.

kickbacks and the new attached gastropub thing is a great stop in jax, too.

    Aardwolf is a must!

Second Kickbacks. Lots of beer on tap, even more in bottles. When I lived in Riverside I ate there all the time. Bold City is just 2 or 3 blocks away. Looks like Intuition moved since I left JAX last year.

Dahlias Pourhouse is 1 block south of Kickbacks with 80 taps. Great people and wide assortment on tap. My old haunt...cheers!

I thought you could get Pseudo sue and some others in Florida. Isn't it being brewed in Florida now?

Yes, being brewed in Lakeland at Brew Hub. I just picked some up at TW Brandon. The Tampa/St Pete/Sarasota TWs have it, along with bottle shops (Craft Beer Cellar). Why it isn't distributed in the Orlando area to TW is a good question. What I bought is 2 weeks from canning, so I like it, but others say it isn't as good as Iowa brewed PS. Personally, I prefer Golden Nugget. Such is the way of the taste buds.

You can. It's just not the same beer per se. Not sure of how hard it is to get or how often it's released.

I have been working on a Jacksonville Beer Guide to post here, this is not complete, but will give you some idea of our scene here:

    Jacksonville Beer Guide

    Bottle Shops:

Beer 30: San Marco - Great little shop in the same neighborhood as a great brewery (Aardwolf), cooler full of beer, nice local, Florida and national distro bombers and six-packs. 15 Rotating taps.

Beer 30: Riverside - Also in a great beer area, on King Street in Riverside. Good selection, 12? Rotating Taps, cooler full of beer, nice local, Florida and national distro bombers and six-packs.

Grassroots Natural Market - Health food store with a healthy amount of bombers and six packs. Sometimes you can find random goodies here that are not elsewhere.

Alewife - This is in Riverside in 5 points. 6 Taps, great selection, cool atmosphere

Total Wine - The mega store by St. Johns Town Center

Broudy’s - One at Jacksonville Beach, one in St. Augustine

ABC Fine Wine and Spirits - Several locations throughout Jax and St. Augustine, some more beer focused than others.

    Breweries:

    Musts:

Aardwolf Brewing - Probably the most creative brewery on the First Coast, approx. 20 taps all produced in house, Barrel aged releases approximately once every 5-8 weeks, Sours, and a Pilot Batch on Wednesdays. Upscale atmosphere, very nice bar area.

Green Room Brewing - Located at the beach, very creative on a small system, roughly 15 taps. Periodic bottle releases, with the standouts being Quetzacoatl and the Tequila barrel aged version and the anniversary beer Secret Spot.

Intuition Ale Works - New fantastic downtown location, this is a destination brewery, with rooftop bar and restaurant opening inside very soon! Periodic bottle releases are new (Premonition Series), and there is an Annual release of a BA Stout (Underdark).

    Others:

Bold City Brewing - Jacksonville’s oldest craft brewery, a lot of focus on core beers that see distribution. Bold City is expanding with a pilot batch system in a secondary downtown taproom, to be able to be more creative with new styles.

Engine 15 - Beaches brewery that is also very nice with food, production facility downtown (soon a new beer garden / taproom). Core beers good, and some really cool other styles!

Pinglehead brewing / Brewer’s Pizza - High Gravity beers and great pizza is the name of the game here!

Veterans United brewing - Core beers, some others, plus a small batch every Thursday.

Wicked Barley - Newest Jacksonville brewery - Brewing, and beers will be released on 10/22/16. Awesome, brand new spaces, both inside and outside, with a dock and a creek and all. I have tried some of their beers at tasting events, all were at least good. Excited to see them put it all together. Brewpub with really good food.

Zeta - Beaches brewery growing up rapidly. Excited to see what they can do in the future!

    On the Horizon:

    Hyperion Brewing

    Southern Swells Brewing

    Crooked Rooster Brewing

    Beer-Centric Restaurants:

Kickbacks Gastropub / Goozlepipes and Guttyworks - The granddaddy of craft beer in Jax. 200+ taps, obscene amount in bottles. Must-see space on G&G side of restaurant. Very large menu, beer dinners, etc. you have to see this place to believe it!

Cool stuff! Definitely going to use this on my visit up this fall. Haven't toured Jax since Green Room's grand opening, so you know it's been awhile!

One thought: Maybe be more specific about the Broudy's St. Augustine. There are two in St Aug. The one with the good beer selection is Cobblestone Broudys. The King Street one is shady af.

Pertinent info.. We usually vacation from Vilano Beach-Flagler-Palm Coast area.

Always feels like a waste land, and I thankfully bring my own.

I am with you on that, but St. Augustine is coming along. 3 Breweries in area now (2 that I have not been too), a place or 2 to buy bottles, and a couple beer bars / beer centric places (Chatsworth Pub, Stogies, etc.)
