Darklord Day 2017

I realized that mine is crap at the Juicy release. I was too drunk to care at DLD.

 

This is my favorite annual thread. Love all the excitement, bitching, trashing, complaining, planning, etc. I hope it goes 200 pages!

Keep in mind this is now the weekend before Chicago Craft Beer Week kicks offs.... May is going to be expensive....

 

Jacket? How about pants? I had hiking boots on and multiple layers of pants, did me no good, was soaked up to the thighs. Definitely buying a full on rainsuit this year.

 

Big rubber boots (Calf height), PVC rain pants, Gortex Rain jacket, and then a cheap poncho to go over top of my backpack, or keep over my cup of beer.

 

There is "rare" flavor in those raindrops. Gotta let em into the beer.

 

Nice that it's no longer the same weekend as Baconfest in Chicago.

 

The Baconfest people should bring Baconfest TO Dark Lord Day next year. I can't think of a better option.

 

Something like this Bacon Pie, for example

 

That isn't the most appetizing thing I've seen, but bacon with pretty much anything would be a hit after all the bottle sharing at DLD. They should get Paddy Long's from here in Chicago to get some of their bacon bombs (or whatever they call them) sold there. Or, no need to get fancy, just sell some bacon on a stick.

I hear horror stories from past years, but I'm still willing to try and get a ticket. Would probably have to solo it though.

 

You're never alone on DLD--which feels odd to say.

 

Let us confirm or refute these horror stories. Do tell?

 

Here's to hoping they have more than one vanilla variant again this year. I was group B last year and got in pretty early but Handjee was long gone. My friend and I were both able to get FVM though.

 

Every variant should be a vanilla dark lord, just aged in a different type of spirit barrel.

 

Well that certainly didn't take long for everyone to change their reservations at the Hampton.

 

Damn. Guys Ive gone with last couple years cant make it that day. Debating If I really want to go all the way out there solo
