What beer are you drinking now? #1456

I have some bottles of Tired Hands Shambolic in my fridge. I was itching to open them and finally I did so a few hours ago. So hoppy, so tart, so funky and so cloudy.

 

Nice gift--headed to Chicago myself tomorrow morning for work; one day only. Wanted to load up on Bomb! and some Pipeworks, but don't think I can justify checking a bag and what to do with my clothes.

This morning, I'm drinking something leftover from my last trip:



Grabbed three or four from these guys, and while this was my least favorite, it was a suitable breakfast beer. Nice sunrise and the two daughters have been quiet enough that the eight month old boy (and wife) is still sleeping.

 

wet weather expected much of the weekend. full fridge tho' - so whateva'.

 

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday. Really chilly this morning, but it is supposed to warm up until Wednesday after today. Probably going to go out and get an oil change later today. Been 6 months and 5000 miles since I bought my car now.

Deciding to revisit some reviews this morning, better use of my morning drinking time on the weekends:

8/22 dated, so pretty darn fresh. Amazing head retention and dense lacing on the glass. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, peach, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with light caramel/toasted biscuit malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/rind/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; very sticky/resinous mouthfeel with light grainy creaminess. Very dry with lingering resins on the finish; minimal hop astringency. Very drinkable and hop character is very bright. Just as amazing as it has been recently, but my score is reduced from 4.5 years ago to a more sensible number. Will be buying these singles from Meijer from now on it seems, always great freshness availability. 4.33


Still awesome, first review was 5 years ago. I like to age this for a bit to tone down the booze. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and light toffee malts. Large sized pine/rind bitterness. Medium-full bodied with balanced sticky/resins and malt creaminess; lightly slick. Increasingly dry resinous finish. Some small ABV warming, but not boozy. Very smooth for the ABV, and despite the aggressive resin bitterness. Love buying this every year, but I refuse to age it longer than a year after previous experiments. It usually just turns into a pure pine resin bomb with slick malt syrup after 2-3 years. They did change the hop schedule for this IIRC in the last few years, but right up to 1 year of age is great stuff for me. Will buy more soon. 4.13


The real reason I decided to revisit reviews this morning. This was incredible! Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, peach, papaya, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, and light charred malts. Moderate pine/rind and roasted bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced sticky/resins and creaminess in the mouthfeel; slightly chalky roast as well. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness. This was way better than I remember 5 years ago. Super juicy tropical/citrus hops with backing roast malt character. I may just end up buying another 4 pack of the Anniversary IPAs if they are still on the shelf. I had the 10th last week and loved it and 20th is amazing too. Still have yet to try 5th, but soon. 4.32

Guinness Antwerpen Stout

Id like to say first, if you a fan of extra or foreign, youll automatically like this but from memory compared to extra, this is different. This is sweeter rather than mild, this has more caramel and a moderately bigger amount of sweet dark fruit like raisin or plum. Although i said "sweet" several times, the roast is enough to balance it. and at 8% it goes down quick. Im glad i have more than one to do a side by side with the Extra.

We are off to a good start this cold cold morning. I'm logging in with Evil Twin No Hero Oatmeal Stout. 7%ABV.
Decent for an oatmeal stout but didn't knock my socks off. Wish I had spent my three bucks on FBS.
I was hoping for more roasty toasty flavors and a slicker mouthfeel due to oats, but ah well. It's certainly not a horrible brew by any means but doesn't stand up to other Evil Twin offerings like Even more Jesus or any other jesuses...
This one is No Hero.

Morning BA! It's a balmy 39 degrees here this morning and woke up to 65 degrees inside. Broke down and turned the heat on. This awesome beer sure is warming me up!

Made a 6am run over to Lowe's this morning for some wood and materials to build my kids a new toy box, and figured I should have breakfast before I get started.



I can never turn this beer down, especially at $10/4 which still let's it sit nicely within my budget

Had a great late season sail on the Hobie cat yesterday afternoon....knowing I will have to pull my boats for the season soon, makes every remaining sail bittersweet....the Tesla helped!

Greetings from The Valley of the Sun! We flew to Phoenix yesterday for a family wedding. Planning on trying some Arizona beers today, then the wedding at 4 pm.
