Good beer, but this whole "three times a year lets throw a huge release" thing is passé and a bit self serving, IMO.

I really don't get why they can't just make this beer part of the regular rotation.

They might not have the hop contracts to brew it often enough or make more of it. Just a guess though. I am sure they would like to do it a little more too. They must make a lot of money very quickly on Dinner.

You would think by now, after years of successful dinner releases, that they would be able to buy more hops and make more of the beer. This has got to be by choice. Maybe they are afraid Dinner will lose its hype and appeal if it just becomes part of the regular lineup.

    "It's incredibly expensive to make"

Was the response I got 1 year ago.

It lost it's hype and appeal once I tasted it. It's a great beer but nothing I can't better with a tiny fraction of the effort it takes to get.

Agreed wholeheartedly, exactly how I feel about heady topper too. Trillium has got me spoiled

I don't know the numbers but with MBCs distro footprint being as big as it is and as such producing a TON of beer, this response doesn't sit well with me.

A ton of breweries in the northeast are doing beers comparable with Dinner and we get to access them cheaper, more regularly and in a better format.

MBC strikes me as miserly with their pricing, stubborn with their format and unnecessarily dramatic with this silly release every trimester.

If a bottle comes my way, great because it definitely is a good beer, but they are rapidly becoming a hard pass from me when it comes time to purchase.

Makes the consistent reviews that much more impressive. Especially for a beer thats been around so long. Its a beer that I really need to try. Can't just be hype.

Really? I understand liking trillium as much or more, but heady topper taste very different from anything I have tasted from trillium or anywhere else. It is so unique. That Conan yeast adds that extra level of complexity.
Amazing beer, considering the taste, consistency, and price. The beer tastes good months after canning as well. To me the best brewery making the "New England Style IPA" that I have had. They are an incredible brewery.
I have yet to make it to the brewery, but am anxious to go. If you can try to make it. I have had three of their beers, loved all of them.

But I do agree, walking in and out of Trillium with all the beer I can carry, there is no need to wait in line anyplace these days.

Trillium could close their doors tomorrow and the Dinner release would still be a massive waste of time. And I'm not normally one to hate on hyped releases, long lines, whatever. But in this case we're talking about an extremely long line to pay a lot of money for a beer that's probably not as good as whatever Tree House (just one example) is rolling out on any given wednesday. It just doesn't make any sense.

Disagree on many fronts. The trip to Treehouse (as one example) depends on where you live. Not a worthwhile trip for folks from Portland, in my opinion. I also think Dinner is as good as anything Treehouse puts out (to each their own on the taste front). Finally, it is never a waste of my time to travel up with a buddy and spend time hanging out and playing cards while we wait. I see your point here, but the lines for Dinner have been getting shorter and moving faster, and I spend the time having fun.

I think this is actually a good idea but I'm wondering if the ticket purchasing is going to be a random drawing?

I agree that if you live close to MBC, think Dinner is truly an exceptional beer, and like waiting in line, it's a good release. But that's a pretty limited subset of people, and apparently MBC themselves think it's worth trying to do the release in a different way.

Dinner might be the best beer I've ever had. I'd like to see it brewed regularly, and I'm not really up for leaving Boston at 2AM to stand in line anymore (seems like the new system takes care of that), but it's an amazing beer. Annoying to get, but wonderful to drink.
