Opinion. I think Westy 12 if this most overrated beer in the world. IMO Rochefort runs laps around it all day. Top 5 beer! What a joke!

The people who feel miller lite tastes better, drink it when it is as cold as possible, masking the true flavor...like eating a cheese out of the fridge. I agree it is a quality beer and of course anyone is entitled to their opinion. I just personally think it is overrated. I don't hate it.

Strange about the GD Yeti. I did one fresh and didn't care for it. Pulled my second bottle out a couple of years later and it was like drinking heaven. In short, I agree with you 100%.

Since you're new to aging beer, these are some fairly accessible brews that you can lay down for a long time and are pretty tough to mess up:

    North Coast Old Stock
    JW Lees Harvest Ale
    Sierra Nevada Bigfoot
    DogFish Head Worldwide Stout
    Anchor Old Foghorn
    Stone Imperial Russian Stout
    Stone Old Guardian
    Bells Third Coast Old Ale
    Victory Old Horizontal
    De Dolle Stille Nacht
    De Dolle Oerbier Riserva
    DogFish Head Olde School

There are literally dozens, if not hundreds of others that can be cellared for shorter or intermediate amounts of time. There are an equal number of brews that are just really hard to find, but will age well in the proper conditions.

Good luck with the cellar. It's a great hobby.

Thanks everyone for the awesome input. I have had the pleasure of trying some of the beers suggested. One that stood out to me the most for change was the north coast old stock ale. It was a favorite of mine before I started aging beers and after trying one my friend aged for a bit longer than a year from 2011 was simply great. I have also had good success with Burton Baton Dogfish Head. I will continue to post as I age and sample.

    JW Lee's of any variety
    George Gale's Old Prize Ale
    Traquair 2020
    Harviestoun Ola Dubh (any year)
    Aventinus

Top of my head but there's dozens more.

    From personal experience

Expedition Stout- had a bottle from 94 in Dec of 2011. Impressively good.
Third Coast Old Ale- have had several bottles from 92 over the last couple years, udderly, ridiculously good
Big Foot- have had a number of vintage bottles, always good but from 3-6 years I find it very good.
Three Philosophers- I really like this with age on it, give it a couple years and it is solid.

FWIW I wouldn't age FW. They're real great about drinking beers like abacus and parabola best to drink fresh

True, what is the oldest Tilquin bottle, 2009/2010 season? I do think it is a safe bet that Tilquin will age well and have several in the basement.
