Yeah it was ideal temp I'd say. BA Darkness and Alesmith Vietnamese Speedway were drinking great though

 

The one time I had the coffee (well, extra coffee) version, I still found it pretty cloying.

DL is basically a dessert beer to me. I don't want a gallon of chocolate mouse, either, but it's good in small amounts. I definitely sympathize with the frustration over having to get through 22 oz. of it when you open a bottle.

 

I think you're looking for the Mouse Advocate forum (or Mouse Non-Advocate???).

 

I have to drink 22oz of DL before I'd consider touching a chocolate mouse, but yeah, it is a dessert beer. Or a cigar beer.

 

Completion date is Fall of 2017. Won't help this go around, but let's hope the family development they are putting there doesn't eventually force the end of Dark Lord Day because people don't want drunk people around their kids...

Don't worry, everyone else will die from sticker shock when the tickets go for $400 a piece retail and include Vanilla Dark Lord aged in barrels that had contained distilled Vanilla Dark Lord.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if you get option for $400. Huna day has that option, which gets you 12 bottles of the regular Huna. I could see DLD going the same route ($200, $300 and $400 option) especially since 3Floyds said last year they were trying to model their pricing & admissions after CCB Huna Day.

 

$300 gets you an extra variant, but you don't get to pick it. Think of the chaos.

 

The last thing I need is more bottles of regular DL. I don't blame them or have an issue with it, just that I wouldn't go for an option with more than the base amount of regular DL.

 

I don't disagree with you at all. I'm not the biggest fan of reg Dark Lord myself (but I love the variants I've had). I ended up trading away all of my reg. Dark Lords within a month of DLD. I'd rather have the option for selecting multiple variants instead.

 

I realized recently that I should've done the same as you in terms of trading away my regular DL. I wouldn't mind keeping one, and did give one to my brother as well, but don't need the other two. And agreed on the variants, I would definitely go for a higher cost option if I got to choose more than one variant.

 

I like to bring DL to parties/shares with people that don't chase beer as much as I do. It's still a decent beer and they tend to be way more impressed than us jaded BA's.
