I am eager to see how this tastes compared to thirsty dog wulver. That wulver was fantastic.

Ya know, my wife brought me back some of the Wulver from OH last month. It was decent, but IMO did not hold a candle to BB or CW BBSA. For me, it's BB > CW BBSA > Wulver. Not to mention Wulver was way more expensive than the other two.

Don't get why such high accolades for wulver. BB is far better imo.

I had no idea Wulver is rated higher than Backwood's on here. I think they are both fine beers but for half the price almost backwoods is the clear winner, and happens to be one of my favorites. Wulver sits on shelves year round, same with BB Siberian Night, given $ 24-27 tag.

I prefer Wulver. I find it to be smoother and more balanced/complex. BB tends to have more heat, even after cellaring. That being said, I stocked up on both today and am drinking a 2015 BB right now.

Put Ocelot BBA Gravity Always Wins on your radar. VA brewery only, and a somewhat price-y 750, but I opened one last night and thought it was in the neighborhood of those mentioned, maybe a touch sweeter and more BW like. Coming from someone who loves BB as well as the more plentiful BBA english BW's.

Did a vert last year at founders that went back to 2012. My impression from that was the alcohol heat and bourbon taste really fall off the older it gets. Even after a year it's noticeably weaker for me.

I'm a big fan of caramel so BB beats Wulver out in that department. Plus that price for Wulver really turns me off. My region of MI is receiving CW BBSA for the first time so I'm eager to see how it stacks up to the bastard.

Just picked up two 4 packs in Hillsdale, MI today for $13.99. Tasting great as always but honestly seems more balanced and less heat this year IMO.

I think you will be disappointed with the CW. It was so great last year but this year is just not tasting as good, at least to me. I preferred the CW over BB last year, just the opposite this year. Not sure what happened but its not as good as last year...by a lot.

Awww man, that's a bummer to hear! I'll still give it a whirl but I may have to scale back expectations a bit.

I have to agree with the Central Waters BB Scotch Ale not being as good as last year (and bought a case thinking it was as good...) I'm a HUGE fan of scotch ales/wee heavy, and maybe someone who has not had it before wouldn't know. I haven't had 2016 Backwoods yet, so I'll buy one 4-pack at first and test it out before buying more (though I'm sure it will be great as always).

There has been some debate whether to age any of this, and Founders posted on FB today to DRINK FRESH! I hold back a few bottles to compare year-over-year, and to make sure I always have some. But it is very plentiful in the Chicago area in November and so awesome right away, so I'm only getting what I need for one year and that's it.

That might explain things for me some. My only chance prior to this year to have CW was on tap, and when compared to BWB on tap I preferred the CW. Now this year I picked up a couple 4 packs of the CW and thought it was ok, but wondering how I remember it being that much better than BWB. Was waiting to get some '16 BWB to put the two bottles side-by-side.

Thought I saw it today, but the store had a bunch of 4-packs from last year...hopefully soon.

I'm confused. Six four-packs comes out to $90.

Does anyone know if Founders is still selling bottle of Backwoods on Saturday? Or was it Friday only?
