Gooooood morning BA's! Happy Thursday, or @cjgiant 's Flashback Friday eve as I'll refer to it for the day. Very excited about it! You know what? Speaking of that fine purveyor of phenomenal parties, lets check in to the Glass of the Day Awards!

GotD: He finally did it! With what is now the new standard for a beautiful Bow Tie glass as far as the Staff is concerned (almost perfect symmetry, gold rimmed...), cheers and congratulations to @cjgiant for a perfect Leinenkugel's glass! Put a pep in that step my friend, it's your turn to host!
2nd: For yet another perfectly proper and gorgeous post all around, @Prager62 for this Founder's wine glass / teku hybrid. Always love the extra touches with the hops, and the flowers, and...OK, enough .
3rd: Another thought out and cleverly proper post, @dcotom (and cue the Witch Hunt Mob again ) for this Irish through and through stein post. Hopefully we'll all be so lucky to carry out its toast!

Absolutely outstanding imo.

 

Good, beautiful, chilly, windy morning, all! After running into some misfortune with the last companion piece I found for my Nescafé globe mug, I finally discovered another one hidden on a shelf at St. Vincent the other day. Now I'm properly celebrating my discovery with an around-the-world pour of Bell's Kalamazoo Stout. This is like Expedition's little brother. A little lighter in texture, but very similar in color and in its fantastic notes of dark cocoa and burnt coffee. The hints of licorice linger a bit on the palate as it warms. Absolutely delicious, and truly worthy of these beautiful mugs!

Time to relax with something I bought when I was in Colorado. First few sips reveal a pretty solid wet hop ale, but I'm not surprised as La Cumbre makes some really good beer. I think I'll go inside to start the review on this cool and rather wet day.

Actually impressive on the pour. Hazy, dark orange juice appearance, with a towering head of 3 fingers, leaving specks/webs of lace all the way down.

Smells of spoiled grain, rotten fruit, squash, hop dust, and a squirt of citrus.

I can't stop laughing. Literally. This is so bad. It's not gross, it's just hilariously terrible. I've never bust out in a belly laugh at a beer attempt before. There's no flavor that directly stands out above the rest, it's just a mishmash of spoiled fruits, cracker, prune juice, and grapefruit rind. All together, nothing louder than the rest. Maybe a little residual bitterness on the finish.

Feel is actually decent, it's creamy and carbonated and ends with a tongue scrubbing numbness.

Overall, I paid $4.99 for a 24 pack. That's about 20 cents a can. It's not absolutely terrible, but I don't think you could force me to open another can if you had my fists in steel guiders. I've rated this and each category as I see fit. It's probably best dropped off at a trailer park party during after-hours. Ha.

Hey, at least it looks pretty, and now you have something for your "friends" to "enjoy!"

 

Dinosaurs aren't extinct around here! Sticking with another pale and hoping to put a dent in the hop rotation. While the leaves are falling, there isn't a lot of color in the trees. I feel like I'm going to be cheated this year. On a side note, it appears tinypic is still having issues, so I'm defaulting once again to the Bucket.
