Won't lie - the East 99 from burial and fonta flora is damn good IPA.

Not conventional with paw paw fruit but wow. Top 5.

    NC friends,

Michigan native here, my sister who moved to NC will be flying home and checking a bag in a few weeks. She lives in Elon and travels to Greensboro a few times a week. Help me pack her bag. Looking for some juicy and or hazy IPA's she could find on shelves or at a brewery. Even better but less likely would be some type of barrel aged Stout but I know those don't usually sit on shelves. Lastly would be a good local fruited sour. Any of that sound doable for her area? If this is not the right place feel free to direct me elsewhere, thanks for the help!

Not sure what IPAs sit on shelves in Greensboro, but The Event Horizon and Lindley Park are two excellent BA Stouts from Olde Hickory released annually. Have to believe those make it to Greensboro.

Have her swing by Beer Co or Gate City Growlers and they will do a good job hooking her up with some NC goodies (both shops are staffed by knowledgeable folks).

Juicy IPA's that are canned or bottled are virtually nonexistent in the area... unless you were to travel to Charlotte or Richmond, Va.

Bestway in Greensboro has a very solid beer selection, though.

Burial Ceremonial session IPA is somewhat hazy, but it's not a NE style by any means. It's very good though.

Tried Lt. Dank yesterday, big fan, up there with Freak and Pernicious, IMO.

A little late to the Long Stride game, but damn, I'm really enjoying this crowler tonight. I think it's up to par with some of The Veil's offerings. Very impressed. Might be the best IPA/DIPA in NC right now IMO.

Same here. Had a chance to try it at Sam's bottle shop this past Friday. Whoa!! Now I have been blessed to have had a fair amount of New England style IPA's (from there originally and still have family there) and Long Stride more than holds its own for the style of IPA. That back of the palate citrus assault is amazing. Just moved into 1st place slot on my NC DIPA list. Well done Bond Bros!

Was at Bond Bros. over the weekend for whatever festival they had going on and the new batch of "Local" is absolutely on point and comparable to Long Stride if anyone gets a chance to try it at the source.

Picked up a 4-pack of Trophy's Double Lutz at State of Beer yesterday also, anyone on here have this recently? Haven't tried it yet, but I wanted to give Trophy another shot after a few sub-par beers at the brewery a few months ago. Didn't get a chance to try cloud surfer, however.

Happen to remember what hops were in that newest Local? I love Long Stride, but it's a little higher abv than I prefer, so a comparable version of Local would really be awesome. Hopefully see it hitting some taps around town soon.

^^^yes Jade is the reason for this version of Local to be so tasty....

Hope the next version of Bitter Enemy DIPA is up soon

I would not say this is the best IPA in the state, especially if NE Style is the benchmark, but I had Cryin' Holy from Steel String last Friday and it was much better then I remember. Very citrus forward with a nice balance. I believe I would actually take it over Hubris. If you have not had it or had it recently, worth a try!

Wooden Robot announced yesterday they are now doing crowlers so y'all can get some What He's Having IPA. The v15 or v16 (can't remember which) that i had a few weeks ago was pretty awesome.

Wish I was closer to Char to obtain that. Haven't tried many of their offerings, but have basically only seen their jalapeno pale ale in cans at bottle shops.

In other news, I had Trophy's Double Lutz last night and was very impressed. Best Trophy offering I have had to date.

Double Lutz was towards the bottom of all the Trophy hoppy beers for me. I'm thinking that I just don't like those Calypso hops because i didn't like Calypso DAVE either.
