    Happy flashback Friday!

Having a Hoegaarden Witbier. At the end of the '80's early 90's this was widely available on tap around here (and probably still is). Used to drink this on a regular basis with friends during my first years as a student. Not awful lots of it, because it was not the cheapest beer.

At some moment I lost my apatite for this beer and I haven't touched it for more than 20 years I think.

In quality a wonderful beer, but not my taste. Nice to taste this after all those years however. Brings back good memories.

Cheers to you all and to to absent friends!

Some of you may know about my country appreciation, mostly the unknown stuff, but sometimes I enjoy Toby Keith, far more mainstream but he's had a few good ones. I like girls that drink beers!

I saw a rainbow on the way to my beer store today.

I'm certain it had nothing to do with me finding this delicious gold, but it is a good story!:slight_smile: According to the label it was 'borned' 10/17/16 and delivered today. Not a bad time frame for around here!

I missed the first year it came out, so I can't join the comparisons to that batch. I will say it is much hazier and juicier than last year's batch which I thought was good, but wasn't the best wet hopped ale of the season. This year's is going to be in the conversation!

A crazy morning of weather here with lake effect showers, intermittent peeks of sun and rainbows. It's just a precursor of what lies ahead around this end of the lake. Happy Flashback Friday all, I'll join ya later for that! Nice to see TinyPic up and running again......

Flashback Friday, y'all. And I have a doozy. I decided it was appropriate to break from my Oktoberfest run to pop this open and share it. Probably the first craft beer I ever had and one of my favorite "stouts" when I was in college. (Yup, it was black so it was a stout to me.)
Saranac Black Forest. (Or is it Prior Double Dark?)
Sadly, this beer was removed from Saranac's lineup about a year and a half ago. Even more upsetting, perhaps, is that it was replaced with a session IPA. I am glad that this delightful Schwarzbier made it into Saranac's German Roots Fall Pack. Out of the few examples of this style made in the States, Black Forest was always my favorite.
It has been a long time since I have had this beer. Maybe 15 years. It was the gateway to my appreciation for German lagers and I associate the beer with a great time in my life. Syracuse were still The Orangemen, The Knicks had a good run and arguably the greatest baseball team ever assembled won the World Series...

The label looked like this at the time...

Cheers, all, and thanks to @cjgiant for setting this up. Theme days are always fun!
Anyone remember closing bars to this song?

A local link to Black Forest...

It's good it's appreciated. You know, I listen every evening to a radio or in my car that air country all the time along with some other pop/metal songs so we're not through yet .

Unfortunately, some of these songs are so under the radar that many aren't even on YouTube. Cheers.

You may be interested in the CD Tex radio show :http://www.cdtex.com/index.html more Texas and Americana oriented but great nonetheless, I'm sure you'll find your way to listen to it even in New England.

In observance of Flashback Friday, the GotD Staff has taken the day off out of respect for @cjgiant . However, "we" would like to encourage all BA's to include some vintage glassware to honor today's theme .

Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon! (With some tasty treats!)

Trying to catch up from the past couple days, been lazy. Last night had an Old Style Oktoberfest. I liked it a lot, but the malt was sweeter than other Okotberfests I have had.

Wednesday night, met up with a couple friends at Beer Lab HI. This is their NE style IPA, Nimbus. Juicy and hazy, it's got everything. These guys are doing big things and making some solid beer. Dare I say, some of Hawaii's best beers.

Then we got a sneak taste of their new tart saison, Rebel Scum. It's a tart saison brewed with local pineapple and li hing powder. It's savory, sweet, and a little tart in a beer, so freakin' good.

Tuesday night, had a few my wife brought back for me from Chicago. I'm so lucky to have such an awesome wife that gets my beer geekness.
