I know a local bar is having a tap takeover on 11/10, and Abrasive is listed!

Got to get a few weeks of age before getting it out then door. Then flood the stores so that sits and when the new stuff comes in it will have a full month on it.
    Something needs to be done...

Poor planning on the brewing schedule. Maybe they are sitting until most of the 9/20 axe man is sold....

Surly now has the worst distribution of all MN brewers in terms of freshness. It really is pathetic. Does anyone from Surly read these forums anymore? I hope so.

Surly makes fantastic beer, but their lack-of-freshness, pricing and overall attitude makes me think they don't give a damn. I'd much rather reach for Indeed, Bent Paddle, Fulton, Castle Danger, etc because I feel better about supporting them.

If Toppling Goliath can get 3 day old Psuedo Sue on the shelves from FL, Surly should be able to do better than 2 weeks between canning and delivery to stores.

Speak with your wallets. Most of us are guilty of just taking it and buying some of their stuff anyways.

Not that I'm defending this but has anyone considered the economy of scale in all this? With the new brewery they're producing beers on a massive scale and given their tendency to flood their markets all at once, I'm guessing the lack of three day turnarounds are a by-product. If they opted for quick turnarounds, only select markets at a time would be getting the freshest product and people would be complaining that their area wasn't getting the latest and freshest. It's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation.

The only problem is that we are a drop in the bucket to Surly. The vast majority don't even look at the date; they just happily grab their Furious or Hell. It's just a shame that they seem to have left behind the dedicated, knowledgeable beer drinkers that made them successful in the first place.

In terms of their canning, pricing and distribution, I am serious (if a little hyperbolic). Their facility is fantastic though.

Classic 2 weeks before it hits shelves, same thing as last year

I purchased less than 5 day old axe man at least twice this summer. While I agree that it's frustrating to find older product, there is definitely super fresh stuff available from time to time.
