Transient Blueberry Maigre

 

Hey BA's!! Almost done cooking up dinner (5 pounds of ground beef with chili beans, taco seasoning, stewed tomatoes, green onions, and black pepper) and already got started with a beer. Tonight I'm finally opening my bottle of Southern Tier Mokah which was bottled in March 2015. Tons of chocolate throughout and especially with the mouth feel.

So I had to decide how much I love this beer, because I already picked up 2 more 4 packs today. I think I need more, this is a really good BA Stout at an awesome price.

 

Really nice stuff. Flavors of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, guava, papaya, tangerine, citrus zest, and light pine; with some light caramel, wheat, and bready malt balance; floral/grassy hops and hay/funkiness in there too. Fair amount of acidic tartness with light pine/citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied with balanced acidity and wheat creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light increasing acidic dryness. Really refreshing! Not much of an IPA; more of a session sour with hop flavors. Not much bitterness, but the juicy tropical hop and lacto notes are delicious.


Great fruit IPA. Flavors of big juicy/lightly tart blackberries; with hop flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine; with some honey, light caramel, toasted bready malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness and light tannic fruit tartness on the finish. Medium bodied; moderate hops stickiness and lightly creamy/syrupy/tannic fruit/malt in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate sticky/tannic dryness. Extremely drinkable and refreshing. A definite favorite fruit beer/IPA for me now that they are year round.


Very nice amber ale. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, maple, toasted brown bread, and light nutty/toffee malts; with light herbal/woody hops and a touch of dark fruits. Light herbal bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; really nice bready creaminess in the mouthfeel; maybe a touch syrupy. Minimal dryness or sticky hop character. Really rich and nicely complex on malty flavors; and never feels too sweet. Very drinkable. Almost finished off my Fall pack, will likely grab the Winter when it comes around; depending on how many new beers are in it. I haven't had most of what usually comes in that pack in years though. Would be worth revisiting most of them.


Awesome as usual! Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, caramel, toffee, and light smoke/charred malt. Bittersweet creamy/silky medium-full body; super smooth and lightly drying. This might be better than I remember last time I had it, but age on this bottle is unknown. Probably from earlier this year. Very rich and robust, with just the right amount of roast flavors going on to not be overly sweet. I love the whole stout series, they should be coming back around again soon.

Moving on to a fun one, Artifex unicorn juice. Wheat beer with hibiscus, definitely get some light floral flavors. Overall enjoyable and very drinkable.

 

Was watching Dish Sling the data connectivity held up for about 20 minutes Moving on with a Bell's Roundhouse for the closer. LNBA 4lyfe!!!
