I'm caught up to day 4. This beer tastes like a dessert with coffee, chocolate and coconut flavors. The inside of the bottle cap said something about my inner zen, so I think I know what this is! Yup! Awesome, thanks @Greeny87
A little behind again... Upon pouring day 3, it was fairly obvious this was another BA stout, definitely higher in ABV than the previous. Perhaps Russian, aged in oak barrels. Unwrapped and revealed: Not only is it Parabola, but its a 2014! Paired with a Pecan Divinity, this went down extremely well, perhaps too well.
Day 4 was greeted by a Lakewood cap, luckily I was at home this time for the use of the #properglassware from @JoeyIce3 First pour had some barrel on the nose and was most definitely a barleywine. With a quick scan of Lakewood's offerings, my guess was confirmed: Lakewood Thread Spinner, paired with some Tony Romo Quarterback gummies. Odd pairing, but the BW was one of the best I've had of that style.
Day 2- KBS '15 and mints Day 3- Degarde Petit Citra, Trillium mosiac cutting tiles and Hop candy Day 4- Oddside ales funk soul brother and caramel apple lollipop Thanks @brightcloud! Shared day 2 and 3 with @Elkevjoe and @Elneenee
Been away for my sons hockey tournament in NH. Between hockey teams staying in the hotel, there was also the mrs NH pageant, mrs teen NH pageant and two events (one for each presidential candidate) at the same hotel. CRAZY weekend. I had day 3 on Friday night. Recognized the bottle. Very smooth and chocolate taste. Absolutely fantastic beer! Guessed a Huna and was right. Went well with the candy! Gotta love hotel glassware.
Man, I love some Bit O Honey! So bummed to hear this I may be wrong but I think this bottle is the only "non-want" I sent and I picked it to stay with the spooky "monster" Halloween theme. I've been in the MT league all year and have tried most all of their bottles with no issues, so this bums me out. Hopefully the next 2 days work better! (and here I thought the 20+ year old Zima would be the worst send)
No worries! I believe I did have this as a want, I think I added it after trying the base beer that @OEB sent me.
Day 4...again at the hotel. Went with the coffee mug and turned out perfect for this. Definitely bourbon barrel aged and I know it is Jackie O's. Not getting any other flavors in there. Can't even guess but I really like this and it is a great sipper. The reveal! Thanks @Elneenee !
Day 5 yesterday. Gotta admit, I was really feeling the effects of a long weekend and Renee totally pulled the trick on me. Pours a dark brown. Getting some fall beer flavors. Definitely cinnamon. Thinking something that has to do with halloween due to the candy. No clue as to what this might be. Reveal shows I was WAY off (well, I did have the cinnamon correct). These 5 days so far have been a dream with these beers @Elneenee . Cannot wait to get to tonights 'pairing'.
Lastly....A surprise BIF box landed on Friday. Turns out, I not only guessed the gender of @Greeny87 twins, but I was closet to the # of breweries he visited. Think I did 61 and he's been to 60. Since I was away, my wife did the unboxing and haul shot. She said she had fun doing it! Odd 13 Currandera - New brewery tick and barrel aged sour. Casey Cherry Fruit stand - Andrew gave me a Casey when we met at Tired Hands. But this is a new tick and one I'm very anxious to try based on reviews (and @OEB loved it for 6DoH). Firestone Velvet Merkin - Another want! Liquid Mechanics Peanut Butter Porter - Another new brewery tick and with having had the Willoughby in 6 DoH, looking forward to this Cigar City Marshall Zhukov - Another want! Excited to finally try this. TRVE Cursed - New brewery tick. Think bottle sales sour pale ale. Looking forward to trying this one next weekend. Crooked Stave Ampersand Volume 3 Chapters 1 & 2 - New Brewery ticks Awesome box Andrew! Great variety!
Got some catching up to do. Fell behind the last few days!! And reveal...... gotta say I had no clue on this one?? Thanks @KyleDavis for gettin me in the 1st 3 days
Forgot to post last night. Day 4 from @jschott75 : Cap gives away the brewery. Cherry, chocolate and some vanilla. A quick BA search of the brewery and I'm guessing Pipeworks Cherry Truffle Abduction Bingo! This was really good and the candy pairing was spot on!
Day 4 post coming in late. Big roasty stout, smooth barrel and dark chocolate / coffee notes. Caravaggio! Such a good stout and the candy pairing is so on point. This should have been a want. Thanks again @beluga92
Day 5 from @pnelting Karbach cap and candy pairing lends me to believe this is Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter The Reveal! It is! Another want enjoyed through the 6 days. You da man, @pnelting!!!!
@Elkevjoe sent another winner Bourbon, roasty Malts and a hint of nuts. Tastes familiar but I'm also getting chocolate and coffee... Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Coffee Oil of Aphrodite! Great pairing with almond chocolate bar. New tick and delicious...thanks!
Oh man, boy is my face red! I missed the pumpkin. After it warmed a bit, and I read the can, yep I can taste pumpkin. Really nice, enjoying the booze @SRBush1974 Happy Halloween Newbies Oh, and a sucker with a real scorpion in it. Need the booze to kick in to attempt eating this. Can 2 may help with courage
Halloween in Sharonville is always fun hanging out with my neighbors passing out candy. This year there was a kid in a full T-Rex costume. But more importantly, my beer for today from @HeartofMiami was holiday-appropriate! And because I was still thirsty, here's a #VBS But seriously, I know you're all dying to see the kid in the T-Rex suit...
