I'd love to see Trumpeter back in bottles and distributed my way again. I'll also add Iron Goat's Goatnik to this list, both standard and ba iterations.

Obsidian is a semi-regular for me, and has been for years when in the mood for a "standard" stout.

Er, um, ah, eh, I dunno?

If so, that gives me some sads. Good, solid, enjoyable beer.

Fremont's Codename S.T.O.U.T. (particularly the version with coffee and cocoa nibs) was a solid low ABV milk stout, draft only though.

I bought a six of it last Sunday, and I'm happy to put it back in rotation. A most satisfying "standard" stout indeed.

Over the years I've probably drunk twice as much of that as Black Butte.

Didnt want to start a whole new thread for this, and figured the NW Stout thread would be the best place.

Apex is once again doing their "Embrace the Darkness" event until November 5th. Lots of great stouts on tap, 6 new ones each day. PNC, 2014 parabola, Abyss vertical to name a few

I went to that last year and it was pretty fantastic.

More details on Reuben's releases here, in which they mention BBIS release notes and their BA Breakfast Stout. Haven't had their BBIS before, so having '16 along with '13 - '15 on tap should be a good time.

Reuben's BBIS aren't on the level of Fremont, but they've always been pretty good. Opened my 13 bottle a couple weeks back and it had aged well.

3Mag just released a new(I think) stout, Major Tompkins Imperial Oatmeal Stout.

They brewed it at least once before, a couple years ago, but I don't believe it ever found its way into bottles (that I saw, anyway)--except as part of Howard's Blend, which was both very impressive and delicious. 3 Mags is no slouch.

Great Notion will be releasing BBDS early in the new year (Bourbon Barrel Double Stack) aged in 5 Yr. Heaven Hill barrels. This will be their first bottle release.

    Well...

    (emphasis added)
I'm surprised it took that many posts before it got a mention.

Usually comes out after the 1st of the year. Last year was different for some reason...The Beer Formerly Known As Abominable (hereafter TBFKAA, or "Winter Ale") didn't see distribution at all -- just UBG draft and UBG bombers -- and Dark Star took its place on the retail shelves from Nov - Jan. With the return of TBFKAA this year, I expect Dark Star will be back in its normal place in the imperial series rotation.

    It's 8% IIRC though.

Big fan here, too. Another big stout though.

Yes, am glad to see that return this year. ALSO a big stout...I think it hangs out near 10% or so?

Oh, speaking of big stouts, I personally also have liked No-Li's Wrecking Ball the handful of times I've had it. I find No-Li overall to be hit or miss, and this brew seems to get mixed reviews here, but I dig this one. I'll add the disclaimer that I've only ever tried it on draft.

The barrel aged version is pretty decent as well. I don't generally like to give any recognition to them, but they have a couple good beers. That jetstarkiller at the inwb fest was pretty good.

Grandfather Raven, currently in season for its short and limited run, is one of my favorite imperial stouts brewed in the region. Only wish Black Raven would take to canning it, for all the obvious reasons.

At least it's bottled. Planned on visiting the brewery this weekend to try it out along with the release of their nitro coffee porter. Any idea what their BA version release schedule is like?

Great Grandfather Raven comes later and has always been brewery only in the past (unlike Grandfather which is available everywhere). It's been fantastic the two times I've had it.
