I have to say we had an awesome weekend spending it with @Steban and his beautiful bride Candice! Can't wait to do see you twos again! Love you guys!
Day 5 Treat - Such a huge, chewy IPA, probably a double. This has got to Tree House. Based on ones I haven't had, I figured it was probably Doppelgänger. So freaking great, probably my favorite Tree House so far. A little less chewy than the last one, I'll still have to say TH. I did get a glimpse of Eric's hauls when he posted all the hops he got, so I think I have an idea of what this is. In Perpetuity? Love the can art, and another delicious TH beer. Thanks so much, @Eziel!
Day 5, another funky buddha cap, and since @maljay26 mentioned french toast in his hints I thought it might be today's beer. Really smooth body with a big maple flavor and a bit of cinnamon, really similar to french toast! Indeed it is! Thanks a lot, this was a want for me and I really enjoyed it.
Day 5 from @CBrodbeck, yet again nicely matched wrapping paper Fresh snow! A lot tastier than the last bottle I hung onto for too long, glad to try this fresh, one of my favorite FBs. Properly matched candy as always, and finally some #properglassware I thankfully remembered. Thanks Charlie!
Day 5 was a late one, and went down surprisingly smooth, and quick. Without even taking a sip, this was definitely a pumpkin beer. First sip confirmed the ol' sniffer was right, and not just any pumpkin beer, an imperial. Cap said Saint Arnold, so I could only guess one beer since I have seen a lot of these being checked-in on untappd recently: Bingo! Just wasn't sure on the year. @JoeyIce3 paird this bad boy with some chocolates filled with a Jose Cuervo flavored cream. Not the greatest tasting candy by itself (not a fan of the flavor of tequila), but when paired together the candy mixes well with the pumpkin and spices in the beer. Cheers!
Day 5 from @BartS Faint hint of barrel on the nose. Thin head. Taste is very nice barrel aged stout. Not bourbon barrel, as it's not sweet. Served with Mary Jane candies that compliment it very well. Rye whiskey Abyss! Another fantastic beer from Bart!
Day 5a and b Trillium IPA's for sure. The first one couldn't pick out but knew it tasted familiar. The second was instantly identified as Never & Again, which is a beer that seems to get a little hate. I however enjoyed it quite a bit. Reveal Thanks again @beluga92 Can't wait to get into day 6
Catch up from day 5 yesterday. Had a pretty good guess on this one based on a hint from @Steban. He has holding off shipping to pick up a beer from a release last weekend. A quick search and I saw Wicked Weed was having the Dark Arts release that weekend. The wax was enough for me to know this must be it. Fantastic beer- Dark Arts Imperial Stout(Rum Barrel). And the candy was really good too.
I'm sad this has to end! Thank you Newbies for letting a Local join in your shenanigans. Thanks to @HeartofMiami for an awesome six days and especially an awesome exclamation point to end with. @UcDru came over to share, and he'll have some pr0n to share later. This was so tasty!
And no "Days Of" BIF round would be complete without a kill shot! FW Stickee Monkee '16 FB French Toast Prairie Coffee Okie FB Last Snow CCB Good Gourd FB BA Chocwork Orange I hope you guys keep your eyes peeled in the BIF forum for 12 Days Of XMas signups this year. Thanks a ton @HeartofMiami and thanks again Newbies. Keep doing what you do.
Day 6 - Make a wish! Seeing as there is cake and a candle my guess is that it is a Birthday Cake Beer The coloring threw me off, but the cap gave it away. Definitely the Birthday Cake White Stout by Keegan What a great round to play in. Thanks @corm44 for a great 6 days of beer!
Day 6 Last bottle from @Elkevjoe completes a BIF box of delicious stouts. This one has great Barrel notes...bourbon, chocolate malts and a hint of roastiness...a bit boozy which I like '16 BA Blackout Stout. 22 oz of awesome with a waxed cap that took a chainsaw to get off! Nicely paired with some Ohio Ice Cube chocolates... Kill shot x 6...great combo of big wants and stouts I enjoyed from NC and Ohio! Thanks for letting a new "newbie" join the fun!
Day 6 from @MTKATL The candy and beer are both delicious And the 6 days Kill Shot Thanks Michael and @jonbonfondle for running this!
Day 6! CCB cap, smells very sweet and the taste follows suit. Very sweet coconut flavor, not No Rules sweet, but close. Not getting much coffee, but maybe as it warms. Definitely Good Nightmare Mekong. Awesome beer to end this six days with. Huge flavor, borders on cloying but in the end it works. Also a big want! In fact, not a single beer in the box (extras included) wasn't a want. Kill shot (minus Black Angel from day three, the empty disappeared at a party). Thanks @Eziel for an incredible box!
Time for day 6 from @Steban. Smell and first taste was enough for me to take a pretty good guess. Very strong coconut smell/taste. I had another Funky Buddha brew earlier in the 6 days so first thoughts were Last Snow. Always a treat, and it went well with the Mounds bar.
I'm about to drink day 6 and realized I never posted day 5! whoops! This one was outstanding after a long day at work. Surprisingly crisp and refreshing for a darker beer. Very roasty, but not coffee flavored. A tiny bit of caramel. Really good. Thanks @Greeny87. Finished almost the whole beer and still could not figure out what style I was drinking, let alone what beer. Aha! New brewery tick! Good stuff, I recommend it!
Beautiful pour on the final day, nice and tart, guessing a BWeiss from Grimm? Another nice Grimm bottle from @SRBush1974 Really enjoyed these!
It's been a great 6 Days of Halloween partying with The Newbies courtesy of @SRBush1974 . Lots of new ticks and wants, some good laughs and some great fun. Cheers everyone!
