    Sold out.

There were definitely repeats in line as they weren't scanning IDs. Saw guys at the very front loop right back...

Still advocating for announcing releases right when they begin sales to avoid the lines and it selling out so fast.

I like them doing a mix. Some announce as they open on weekday, some announce a few hours ahead of time, some announce days in advanced. It gives different people a chance to get them.

Rule of thumb, two hours from 1st sale to sold out, other than the MFCL release you can bank on the 2 hour rule.

Flippers got to flip, so they grab as much as they can get away with. Eventually with every respectable brewery in town now brewing this style this ridiculous behavior will be a long gone memory. But Henry and crew, PLEASE check and scan so these professional beer buying types aren't allowed more than they are alloted. BTW, I am drinking a fantastic glass of Turbulent Juice from Noble, no lines, no douchy low life beer bro's to deal with. Example of what I said above, all in time, all in time.

    Cheers,

It's interesting to see these releases play out down there. Ever since I've moved to the Bay Area, getting to try the beer I want has been an easy endeavor and there are multiple breweries that can brew NE style IPAs pretty well. Some of them even can and distribute so when I read about these gnarly lines, I can't help but shake my head.

One question I have is whether or not increased competition will decrease the line-waiting. It seems to me that line-waiting culture has been so firmly established that any breweries releasing cans of similar beers will generate lines of some sort. For instance, HPB, while they don't get the same kind of insanity that Monkish gets, still has lines at the start of their sales.

Can't carry a haul on the BART, bro.

I like to think that more options will help cut down the amount of people but that's just being hopeful. People are more likely to go with known commodities rather than take a risk...at least until there's a buzz going.

That's what backpacks are for. Also, for anything I can get in the East Bay, I just transport inside the panniers on my bike.

I never got a chance to hit Mumford while I was still down there. How are those releases?

It's been scientifically proven that beer tastes 37% better if you've waited at least 2 hours in a line for it. If you've camped out overnight.... 63.4% better. If you've camped overnight and done at least one BT Vertical... 107% better. If you camp out overnight, do a BT vertical, and then put up the entire allotment you got for trade for some Tree House / Trillium, the beers you never actually drank will theoretically taste 143% better if you had actually drank them.

Nobody wants to drink beers that you can just walk up to a store or brewery and buy. They taste like crap. Fact.

The last few times they would scan your DL so that you could not get back in line to get more. So I'm sure they were doing it again yesterday.
I think they need to make the limit 2 4pk per person.

I think any time you announce a released product before the onsale time, you're going to have at least some form of line. Ultimately, the HPB beers last typically all night so there doesn't really NEED to be a line. Some people are just excited and want to make sure they get them, I guess. Typically just locals from the Burbank to Pasadena down to the 110 corridor in the area.
