The awards are announced in the afternoon session could play a part. But, at least for me, the train schedules are much better in the afternoon than evening. If I went to the PM session, I'd either have to leave 2 hours early to catch a train, or sit at Union Station for an hour after the fest. Buzzed at Union when everything is closed sucks. Doing the earl session will allow me to get back out to the 'burbs, continue on with my night with some more food/drinks if I want, and be home by like 10PM.

Only "buzzed" after FOBAB? You're either doing it wrong or have a superpower.

Luckily for me, my friend lives less than a mile from the UIC. Should be ok to stumble back somehow afterwards!

Not everyone goes to beer festivals to get blacked out. There is such a thing as remembering things you have tasted, splitting pours, dumping what you dont like, ect.

But I know. Heresy on BA.

Some people might not want to commute out of the city at 10pm on a weekend.

To be clear, I'm with you. My days of deliberately getting sloppy drunk are happily long gone. My only point was that I can't imagine sampling the many amazing beers available at FOBAB to the maximum extent (while avoiding getting sloppy) and only being buzzed afterward. But then again I'm a lightweight.

You just need to take a Popeye's break a few hours in.

It's definitely easy to get trashed at any festival if you're not pacing yourself

Any events around town next week/weekend? Northdown isn't doing their event anymore.

Hmmm. Good question. I saw rock bottom in river north was going to have a bunch of their barrel aged beers on draft on 11/10.

The Beer Temple is hosting a New Belgium sours event on Thursday at the Hopleaf. I think there will be a panel-style discussion and a bunch of New Belgium wild ales.

And of course, Kaiser Tiger is hosting their Malort barrel Dark Lord event on Saturday the 12th. Probably a lot of Three Floyds on tap.

Any other breweries announce beers for Saturday yet?

Has anyone had this problem with universe? My friend bought tickets for me when they went on sale and transferred them to me that night. I accepted the tickets and went on with my night. I went on last night to print out but they're nowhere to be found. I talked with my friend and he can't look at the tickets because I've already accepted the transfer. Anyone else having this issue. I'm freaking out and glad I found out last night and not day of.

Based off Twitter, it seems like Oskar Blues is bringing BA Ten Fidy.

I bought tickets for 2 of my friends. Do I have to transfer the tickets to their names? If so, how do I do that? All three tickets are in my name.

I doubt it. In the past they've never checked names, and they never said anything to the volunteers about checking names.

As long as you have a ticket, you'll be fine.

Please excuse my ignorance and lazy attempt to even search, completely forgot this was happening this weekend... did they email tickets or do you present your ID at the door?
