It's time to have an active BH thread. The new brewery location in Riverwest is a great spot to enjoy beer, and the beers flowing out of the taproom are delicious.

I second that. Went for a visit a few weeks ago. Brewery is clean and super chill...Staff is the nicest in the business. had a great tap list. Got to try sproose, sparkly eyes, pale ale with mosaic, pale with citra, regular pale ale...super delicious . Only thing I noticed was an abundance of fruit flies at the bar itself, was annoying but I didn't care cause these guys are fantastic

Gross. Those flies are the worst. I've seen taps infested with them, elsewhere. It was super disgusting. Sounds like the bar crew needs to step up their cleaning game.

Excellent idea for a thread. I was at the brewery last weekend for the first time and loved it. Great beer and great people - tough combination to beat.

For the last 2 years I've been at personal war with those dirty bastard flies. Even keeping my kitchen spotless and all the fruit put away didn't seem to help. I left out a glass of NG Zwickel that my GF didn't finish and it trapped about 40 of them overnight. Nasty.

If I'm not mistaken these are the Mediterranean variant of fruitfly that was unsuccessfully quarantined at various borders throughout Central America (what are you going to do when there are truckloads of fruit crossing borders?). Last I looked into this, they hadn't 'officially' made it into the US yet, but I doubt that assertion. I know people in MI who grow Raspberries and lost this year's entire crop to them. Pick them on day one, put em in the fridge, and by day 2 you have a writhing bowl of ******s. First person to find a non-toxic way to combat them will be a millionaire guaranteed. Some farmers are loosing their asses over them which is far worse than me running around the room swearing and slapping the walls like a crazy person.

Back to the point: didn't see any flies when I was at Black Husky this summer. Luckily this should be about the end of the season for them. Once it gets cold a thorough cleaning should take em out for the year. Once they gain a foothold they are damn hard to get rid of.

Thanks for the info. Good to hear that your visit to the new brewery was fly-free. Hopefully they leave the brewery alone, as that could be a big turn off for customers.

I checked out Black Husky in late September and didn't notice any fruit flies, but we did sit outside. Overall is was a great afternoon, awesome beer, adorable dogs, and good people watching on the patio. I'm looking forward to heading back there when its "patio weather" again.

Definitely the beertenders - Bradley to be specific so I fired him. Not really. Problem has been resolved.

I will say though that I think our staff is great. BY far the best bunch I have worked with and I have worked with a lot of people. They are hard workers and each has their own personality and are fun to work with. We are very fortunate to have the crew that we have.

I visited Black Husky when I was in town in September. I liked the Mosaic and Citra Pale ales but I was disappointed by the lack of taster flight availability since this was my third brewery stop of the day. And at $3 for a 7oz pour or $4 for others I wasn't about to order one half pour of everything. I liked the indoor seating but the place got really loud even when it wasn't completely full so I didn't stay very long.

My wife and I have visited Black Husky a few times and have always been impressed. Their beer is consistently good (Sparkly Eyes being a favorite) and the staff are top-notch. If you get hungry head around the corner and grab a sandwich at Nessun Dorma. I can't recommend Black Husky enough, one of my favorite places in the city!

Damn, one 12 oz bottle limit on 12 Dog? That's harsh. Still gonna try to find a way over there during the afternoon. If I can't make it by the time people start leaving work at 5, I'm going to have to assume shitshow and pass. But really would love to try that BA 12 dog. Gonna be a long holiday weekend plagued with tough decisions and financial setbacks...

The first bottling of BA 12 Dog was incredible, and that Rye Headbutter sounds amazing, wish I didn't have to work....

While I'm excited for both, I have to admit to being more curious about Headbutter. We don't see enough BA Barleywines in our distro for me not to get excited about this one.

The last release of BB 12 Dog was delicious, it tasted very similar to BCBS, which is a good thing, except BB12D is way harder to get your hands on. I have Wednesday off but can't justify the drive for 2 bottles.

Is this at their new taproom location in Milwaukee?

I would assume so. Planning to cut out of work for a bit and arrive right around 3 when the sales start. Will report back with an update when I get there on Wednesday.
