18th Street The Teddy Bear Picnic IPA with mango. Love the name Part of their new "In The Shadows" series. Although it doesn't explicitly say, it seems to be an attempt at a NE style IPA. Pretty good, but it needs some slight adjustments. I'm just happy the style is picking up around these parts.

Always a holiday when Grimm drops a new one

 

I can not believe Photobucket and TinyPic would do maintenance on a Hoppy Friday. Shocking.

And I had another Hoppy Friday doodle to launch into cyberspace!

It might be impossible to describe...but I’ll try. Skip this if you're not a reader or enjoy psychedelia.

The doodle is about 6 inches wide by 5 in tall. (No, don't go there.) There is a very large, and yes, diverse group of humanoid figures and three dogs being sucked up into the air in the direction of a black hole in the upper left corner. The bh is just below the known universe. There are no cats in this sucked-up group...which seems significant. Anyway, a large eye sits in the center of the black hole. This eye is unaffected by the immense power of this celestial phenomena and looks...bored. Each of the figures being sucked up is either distressed or unconscious. Some have lost their beers and might even be screaming. Some have soiled themselves. Three smaller eyes are over-seeing the entire sucking-up process. They also look bored.

A few people down on the ground are about to get sucked up and appear to be in panic. However, one person is calmly toasting with a beer and is totally unaware that his or her doom is imminent. One poor guy has just lost his Duvel and is crying out, “NO! Not my Duvel!” as he is pulled from the surface. (This guy might be me or @jzeilinger .) His wife, who for now is still on the ground, is reaching for him, but he is a lost cause.

Hovering ominously above the small group on the ground is an alien spaceship disguised as an alien skull with demon horns. A Duvel "D" is tattooed on its forehead. The spaceship has ensnared a politician with a green anti-gravity beam and is about to “process" him or her inside the alien skull. Another figure, who has already been “processed” has just shot out the top of the skull in a weird ectoplasmic burst and is rising up into the stratosphere. He appears to be conscious and is heading into a multi-colored infinity. He has no idea where he is going but it sure ain’t into the black hole. This poor guy is glowing green & yellow and I think he is @WesMantooth but I’m not sure. Back down on the surface, a dog is watching and probably wondering who is going to feed him.

It took waaay longer to write this than to draw it, but my OCD is now satisfied.

When the damn Photobucket comes back I’ll post the doodle, which is in-line with most other Hoppy Friday alien abduction doodles.

Oh! Above this doodle is a Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA poured into a traditional Duvel glass. As always, my wee friend Hoppy is standing on the bottle cap and smiling. There's also a couple naked girls from next door on the sofa in the background.

Mikerphone Vinyl Frontier B2 Lactose DIPA. Those El Dorado hops are very unique, but to me the malt and lactose put the sweetness level over the edge. My least favorite one by Mikerphone so far, but it won't scare me away from continuing to seek this brewery out. Cheers!
