No worries, honest mistake. Happens quite often down here since we are both so close. Despite that, we have a quite good relationship with our neighbors.

I'll give a separate hat tip to Reece, as he told me about a planned New Prague brewery that I don't believe has been discussed here yet. He tells me that the founder occasionally comes in and chats him up while downing a pint or two, and his recollection is that the guy said they were fully funded. At a minimum, they have the basics of the essential social media and internet figured out And they appear to be leased in. And they have a tent for beer fests. And probably some merch.

Can anyone say Czech/Bohemain biers? Proper and fitting in NP. Na zdravi!

Hopefully they have a shorter time table than Roets 9 miles away.
Now get the bakery in town to make some pretzels!

Stopped in here recently and had a pint. Decent location, product and overall design of the place. However, I wonder if it will garner enough traffic to stay open when there are so many other options downtown with cheaper/better beer (and food). They mentioned they would eventually be doing meat/cheese trays soon, so that might get me in more often if it’s a decent spread of food (and priced right).

This all looks to be very German/Bavarian and not Czech/Bohemian. Hell as far as I know Giesen is a Dutch or Welsh name. I don't blame most Minnesotans for the confusion since New Prague is pronounced "Praig" and New Bohemia is a German themed resturant.

Haha, sorry don't mean to get on my soapbox but confusing the two makes my Czech blood boil. Oh and we drink Pivo not Bier.

Don't get me wrong though very excited for a German brewery!

    Prost!

Also, in case anyone was wondering, the owner/brewer Erin has experience brewing commercially from somewhere out in Colorado (he told me, but I can't remember where). As far as I can tell, they're a serious outfit and are doing things right from the start. Good people too.

I am also excited for the brewery, but seeing you try to define Czech-German cultural and physical boundaries as so black-and-white makes my Sudetendeutsche blood boil. Haha!

You mean Sudety? Haha yes I could go on and on, I had family in that region also. My grandfather said he never was able to learn German, but his old Liederhosen fit me pretty well.

Did you hear about the Czech who walked into a Bierhaus? Sudentenly he was German.

An update from Cuyuna Brewing (Crosby):
New BIP? Brewers Association lists a "Rocket Tail Brewing" for St. Paul. This appears to be a development name, only, and among one of several long-rumored plans for the east metro.

(I don't want to get anyone's hopes up by naming which city. :grinning: )

I can't wait for Woodbury to have a brewery and pay $7 a pint.

I agree. This will be a nice addition to the area, especially the NE-style IPAs for my drinking preferences. Only a couple other MN breweries have made solid attempts at that IMO. I can't wait to check this place out.

It's been around for a while, but after the Trump rally I stopped at Wild Mind, and was amazed with the beers. If I weren't the one driving, I have a feeling I would have gotten really messed up. I loved the vibe there as well. I will be back, and so will my friend that was with me.

    Re: Barrel Theory

"We’ll make some unapologetically hoppy IPAs"

Is this quote what makes you say NE-Style IPAs or did I miss something else? I would love for a local brewery to jump on the "hazy, juicy" IPA trend. Still can't understand why no one has done it locally when you see breweries elsewhere that have people literally lining up hours in advance for can releases...

Someone involved with it (brewer?) commented on a local FB group about the styles of beer they are focusing on.
