Good morning all, I'm starting the day with Lagunitas Born Yesterday
Pale Ale, my last two. What's in your glass this fine day?

A nice alternative to my usual coffee beers, courtesy of @WesMantooth. Too bad it's nothing like a Clear Sky Daybreak here right now.

    One serious song about voting

And one not so serious (don't know why they call it Schoolhouse Rock, though, as it sure as hell isn't)

    Cheers, all!

Good morning BA, have a great Tuesday. I got Election Day off work today. Not sure how prevalent it is for everyone else; but I know all of the automakers do it, which makes me included. I will be voting later on, the polling place is literally walking distance from my apartment.

    Beers this morning:

Amazing Gose as always. Flavors of big sour cherry, lemon, lime, green apple, wheat, cracker, coriander, sea salt, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice sized fruity/lactic sour finish; balanced cherry/lacto acidity, salinity, and light grainy wheat creaminess in the mouthfeel. Highly drinkable despite higher acidity. Unlike last year, there are still a TON of packs still on the shelf right now. I will definitely grab more when I run out again. I grabbed a bunch of 4 packs a few months ago thinking they would run out, but they still haven’t.

Really nice pale ale again this year. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted biscuit malts; and floral, grassy, light herbal hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied with balanced malt creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Light increasing bitter hop dryness with no lingering astringency. Really juicy all around, will probably get this again.

Awesome as usual this year! Flavors of big nutty roasted coffee; with milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, and hints of dark fruits. Bittersweet creamy and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel. Highly drinkable with great well balanced coffee/stout complexity. Doesn't hold a candle to the Founders, but I still love it for its own reasons. More of balanced coffee stout, with more dark malt sweetness and less roast/char dryness; while still having a ton of nutty/fruity coffee character. I will continue buying it in the coming months. It is always available on the shelf for a while after Founders is long gone. This is basically my second go-to favorite coffee stout for the price. Peche Mortel is my year round Founders replacement, but it is a bit pricier overall.

Digging into the cellar, pulled out my second last 2015 Gnarlywine. This tastes amazing right now! Flavors of big caramel, honey, raisin, plum, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, apple, citrus peel, pine, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted bread; with floral/grassy hop earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with a very creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel; with some sticky/light resinous hop balance. Increasingly drying finish, and never astringent. This is one of my favorite American Barleywines of all time, because it has a nice amount of English yeast influence to it; and is not as aggressively bitter as most others. There is still a surprising amount of hop character now after 19-20 months of age. Hope they brew this one again soon, and not put it on hiatus for 4 years like last time. At least Brown Shugga is always made every single year; because it is essentially the same beer by recipe, but with brown sugar added.

    Cheers

Up at 6 am like normal. Got to keep a consistent schedule going whether I am working or not, I never sleep in anymore.

We just started getting this locally. I am looking forward to reviewing it. There are a number of people saying that this is better than Backwoods, but I am skeptical. I loved their BBA Stout, but its not quite like any other stout I've had before. Not very big on the roast, but has great barrel complexity.

35 degrees at the polls this morning. That's awful cold for a Southerner to be standing outside in haha. But 'Merica was accomplished, and I've got the rest of a sunny day to enjoy now.

Round 2, hoping for a better result this go around. Also hoping it helps warm me up a bit.

I know it says it's an inauguration day beer, but I can't wait that long. Figured this one is appropriate for today anyways.

Stayed up late opening mail; and finally found our new voter registration cards. No surprises discovered (junior monitors our mail while we are away).

Yesterday I received a big box from my BA pal in Milwaukee. I'll open it later today, maybe after we come back from the polls. Cheers, and as they say where I grew up in the hills of West Virginia - vote early, and vote often :wink:!!

    Friends,
Happy Election Day to y'all! I'm what they call " non-resident alien " but a resident for "tax purposes". How bad that the very thing the colonists hated (taxation without representation) is still continuing. Came and been in this country legally for 13 years and still don't have my permanent residency.
Ah well. Doesn't stop me from feeling excited about the execution of democratic processes. :grinning::stuck_out_tongue:
Having my first go at Foundation Venture.
I certainly enjoyed the combination of tropical and piney and dank flavors they got it here.
    Cheers!
