yeah i've had all but the new party wave... good point that they are pushing more hazed ipa's out..

To me they are good, but something I think it's primarily the body of the beer and mouth-feel aren't imo up to the top ipa makers out there.

I mean i'm just picking hairs here, I still purchase crowlers of Kane hoppy offerings very often and if i'm up there will grab cans. Their Barrel game however is through the roof tasty, definitely imo a top barrel program in all of craft beer.

He acknowledged it lasting a weekend. I think what he meant was if it's just that it's hard for him to justify the drive. They release one at a time, rarely more than that. Doesn't look like he was taking a shot at Kane. Easy there froggy.

Just my 2 cents but IMO Kane is the # 1 brewery in NJ and its not close. Their 2 readily available IPA's - Head High n Overhead - are both in the top 5 from NJ along with GW from Conclave, Maine Event from Magnify n 077-10014 from Carton. But its their dark beers and barrel program really that set them apart. I would put ANTEAD and Sunday Brunch on par with any beer I've had.

Object Permanence is a bourbon barrel aged barleywine they brewed enough of to allow customers to purchase four bottles on a single visit. That's a pretty damn good yield many breweries could only hope to produce in that style.

Bottles like Vengeful Heart, Sacre Coeur, Ripple, Overhead, Quarter Sawn, 1825, Fall Saints, Malus, etc. were on offer for multiple weeks in 2016.
Even their outlandishly popular releases like a Morning Bell, Sunday Brunch, Silent Nights, etc. are four or six bottle allotments. Over this last year the only limited releases per bottle count I can remember were Barrel-Aged Heirloom and Fifth.

It's humanly impossible to live near enough to every quality brewery in NJ. However, that shouldn't lead to a sense of "frustration" of not being near certain ones. And it certainly shouldn't lead to creating reasons why that "frustration" is felt when those reasons are either not true or an outdated mindset.

Man, this escalated quickly. I just wanted to make a few points. Yes Kane does brew a lot for each beer they release but it seems that only for the must haves that they tell us how many bottles were made. So just because you can get more bottles than other places, doesn't necessarily mean that more beer was bottled. Kane also doesn't provide quantity updates , not that I am entitled to that, just another factor to consider when you have a long trip ahead of you and might miss out on something that's been available for a couple days.

Secondly, a "frustration" that he might have, and is entitled to, is that Kanes neighbors don't like Kane and therefore they cannot announce releases until the day of. Contrary to popular opinion, I know some people who are particularly busy on the weekend and can't necessarily abandon family/friends/plans at the drop of a dime, drive 2 hours away and back on any given weekend for a beer they have never released before and am unsure if it's worth buying. But some people can.

With that being said, I love Kane and am happy I do live within range for an occasional trip but I am sad when I miss a good beer from them. But hey that's the way the cookie crumbles. I'll live

Any other homebrewers going to this? For some reason I had it in my head it would be IPA wort, have to rethink my whole recipe.

kanebrewingThis Sunday, November 13th from 1-4pm we are hosting our second American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Rally at the brewery. These rallies are free for AHA members or you can join the day of the event at the brewery at a discounted member rate

AHA Director Gary Glass will be in attendance this year to met members and talk brewing and beer. These events are a great way to meet fellow homebrewers in the area and share your favorite homebrewing techniques. We will also be giving tours of the brewery and several members of the Kane brewing team will be on hand to answer questions. There will also be a few rare beers on tap to sample along side our regular draft line-up.

For the second time, we are also doing a wort give-away. Homebrewers can bring a cleaned and sanitized five gallon carboy or fermentation vessel and go home with Kane brewed wort to ferment into a beer of their own creation. The first year we did an all experimental-hop IPA. This year we are brewing an 8.0% Imperial Stout. Just like the IPA, we feel this recipe has a lot of room for interpretation and flexibility in fermentation, secondary ingredients and aging. The actual recipe will be available the day of the rally.

If you would like to attend the rally and/or get in on the wort give-away you must RSVP to the link below. Space is limited and we already have over 200 attendees signed-up, so if you would like to attend RSVP soon.

Noooooo. While Overhead is far from a bad beer, and I weirdly enjoy it more in cans than on top/growlers, Head High >>>>> Overhead for me. Overhead is a clear least favorite of the hoppy offerings (HH, Party Wave Hop Labs...) for me

It did, but they put Sunday Brunch on after, which was still on when I left at 10pm. So possibly still on today, not sure...

I had a pint of Party Wave at the brewery last night. I agree with @beertoro it was a bit of a disappointment for me based on everyone's excitment for it. It was definitely a fantastic beer but I don't think I would put it in my top 3 Kane IPAs.
