My guess is hunting should be much easier this year. With no rare or rye variant, the only worth the 'chase' is coffee. I don't think anybody needs to worry about getting shut out.

Anybody want to trade for my 2015 bottles (11/4 & 11/5) otherwise I'll be passing this year. Not worth the risk.

They flash pasteurized the beer this year so there shouldn't be any risk.

If the beer isn't pasteurized, you face the same risk with every single brewery when aging any beer, esp barrel aged ones. 2015 BCBS tasted great when fresh. It was only when people decided to "cellar" the beer did it become an issue.

Too bad they advertise that it will "cellar in the bottle for up to five years"...and conveniently continued to expand the recall and offering a solid deadline. I thought I was safe with my bottles of regular...there goes my money.

Wait, people are cellaring their barrel-aged imperial stouts now?!? Madness! Insanity! Who has ever heard of such a thing??

There is no version or reality where infection in a beer is the buyer's fault because they held on to a beer for 6 to 9 months, especially when that beer specifically advertises on the bottle that it can be cellared for up to 5 years. Yes infection is a possibility in any beer, especially a barrel-aged one, and I don't blame goose for it. They are trying hard to make a good product and they generally succeed. This time they effed up, they gave us our money back, and now we can all move on.

Ok this is totally an unsubstantiated claim from a discussion with a distributor, but he claims that goose island just had to dump 55% of their bcbs this year and that no coffee and barleywine will hit distribution. Again, totally classified as rumor at this point, but thought I'd share the gossip anyway.

I was told that Minnesota will only see the regular BCBS this year, no variants. But again, this is from a source that is not from Goose Island, so we cannot be certain.

MN is getting Regular, BW and coffee. Stop the nonsense.

SHUT DOWN! Figured as much, there's speculation everywhere about goose dumping a bunch again this year but zero evidence of that.

Where did you get your information? I would love to see some coffee stout in MN, but the distributor said MN would only see the original this year.

Either the rep gave me bad info, or he is stashing all the coffee and barleywine for himself

As the guy representing one of the biggest beer sellers in the metro if not the state, I'll put my money on @BeerBuyerBill's word over hearsay speculation. Besides, no one's breathed a word of anything less than Regular, BW, and Coffee over on the Chicago side plus their local allotment of Prop.

Thanks for the info Bill, I tried to put all appropriate caveats in... I have no insider knowledge but it's what I was told.
