Im flying into Boston this weekend and hanging around for about 2 days and then heading to Falmouth. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to grab a beer, breweries, or beers to look out for? This is for my honeymoon so preferably places that are about 30-45 min from either location so my wife doesn't kill me haha. I am also open to suggestions for cool, non-beer related places or things to do. Thanks in advance!

Definitely check out Devil's Purse in Dennis. They brew some interesting stuff. You can get a tasting flight and growler fills. They also sell bottles of special releases.

Where will you be staying in Boston? And what about transportation? Renting a car?

I haven't been to Falmouth in a few years but from what I recall there is a British Beer Company bar right across from the water. There are some spots on Main Street like Pickle Jar that have good food and decent beer. I suggest heading to Provincetown for a day. Its the most fun and unique place on the cape. And I'm assuming you know you can take a ferry from the Falmouth area to Martha's Vineyard.

Must visits in Boston are Cambridge Brewing, Row 34, Trillium, Gingerman. These are easy to get to by foot or subway.
The foliage is good right now in Boston so I'd suggest strolling around a park or two. Boston Common/Public Garden, Charles River Esplanade or Arnold Arboretum.

Heads up that the ferries don't run directly from Falmouth this time of year. You'll need to take it from Woods Hole or Hyannis.

In addition to the BBC and Pickle Jar (amazing breakfast, btw), in Woods Hole I'm a huge fan of Water Street Kitchen. Awesome food and small but really good beer list.

Just a warning on the two Cape suggestions so far. Devil's Purse is a solid 50 minute drive from Falmouth (one way) and Provincetown in another 50 minutes past that. I strongly agree that both are good places to visit, but it's not like they are around the corner from Falmouth.

I would try to hit Trillium Canton location on the way from Boston to the Cape. It is nominally out of your way (assuming you would be taking 93 to 3 to leave Boston), probably 20 minutes each way if you aren't in the heat of rush hour. It's less out of the way, if you find yourself on 128/95 south to 3.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys! Provincetown sounds pretty cool and I will definitely check that out. My wife will really appreciate all the non-beer related suggestions.

If you are down on the Cape during the weekend and going to Provincetown, then I highly recommend a stop at Truro Vineyards - there is a winery and a distillery there - great spot to stop for a bit that is non-beer but still involves some drinks.

If you go to Provincetown there's a place called the nor'east beer garden. Great tap list.

Nor'East Beer Garden closes for the winter, like a lot of places on the Cape.

In Falmouth we'd also recommend you check out bear in boots, Liam maguires, ... in woods hole. There is also captain Kidd, quicks hole tavern.... there are lots of great places. Try our beer finder on our website capecodbeer.com most craft centric bars carry our beers.

Provincetown is a long drive from Falmouth and many many places closed this time of year so do some research before you travel...not sure if Truro vineyards is still open weekdays so check that too. Hate to go all that way and be disappointed!

If you get to Hyannis come by Cape Cod Beer. We've currently got 11 beers on tap in our tasting room. Including a single malt single hop pilot, a local cranberry harvest ale and some other new stuff .. you can see them all on our website.

If you come by on a weekday ask for Beth. I'd be happy to show you around.

    Thread revival.

Any new distribution to the Cape? Does Exhibit A or BLDG8 or Night Shift (just throwing out places who have expanded distribution recently) or anything else new make it down. I'm content to be at my family place in Dennis and go to Devil's Purse but figured I should ask about distribution.

Red Nun still the best bet in the Dennis area for a good draft selection?

Only place you're gonna find Night Shift on the cape is Moonshine Liquors in Hyannis. No Exhibit A or BLDG8 yet. Devil's Purse and Hog Island just started sending cans out to stores around here though.

Your best bet in Dennis for draft is the new Cleat & Anchor. Lots of Craft Collective stuff.

Bryan from Craft Collective here, we're hustling to get good beer all over the Cape. Cleat & Anchor is a safe bet for sure. The British Beer Co locations, Father's Kitchen, Flynn's, Nor'East Beergarden, Industry Alehouse are all good bets. Many other great places with a couple of our drafts, but those are the ones who have jumped in to the portfolio in a reasonably significant way. Devil's Purse is great for an on-Cape brewery. Cheers!

The Cleat and Anchor is going to be my answer for new restaurant. Our family house is less than a mile from there. Sounds like same old same old in terms of beer store selection (we're also, obviously, super close to Devil's Purse so I will just make my normal first thing when I get into town stop there ... been looking forward to the 16 oz'ers since I saw they were partnering with Isle Brewers Guild).

    Not quite true

South Chatham Liquors carries Night Shift and a half decent selection of other stuff both local and regional. It's a small store so don't get your hopes too too high, but my family has a cottage in Chatham and I've actually stopped bothering lugging beers down with me because I can always get enough interesting stuff there.

I even snagged a bottle of Founders KBS there for $6 just last month. Oh, and I don't know if this was just a one off thing, but they had cans of the Kolsch from Devil's Purse as well.
